STOCK FUTURES LITTLE CHANGED AHEAD OF JOBS REPORT
Stock futures were mixed on Thursday evening ahead of a key jobs report with Wall Street trying to shake off a sluggish start in January.Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average ticked up 21 points, or about 0.06%. S&P 500 futures gained 0.04%, and Nasdaq 100 futures slipped 0.04%.The moves come after the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite declined for their fourth and fifth straight negative session, respectively, on Thursday. DECEMBER JOBS REPORT EXPECTED TO SHOW HIRING SLOWDOWN, DECLINING WAGE GAINS
The December jobs report is set for release Friday morning and is expected to show more signs of a cooling labor market to finish 2023.The monthly labor report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics is expected to show nonfarm payrolls rose by 175,000 in December while the unemployment rate ticked up to 3.8% from the previous month, according to consensus estimates compiled by Bloomberg.
