( a screencap from the upcoming steem-roller.com v0.7.5 currently
In the world of software engineering the term "beta" often refers to an application that has most if not all of it's planned functions implemented and is currently being tested for stability, where as the term "alpha" is used to describe software that is still having functions actively implemented into it. While Steem-Roller.com has played host to well over 31,000,000 bets since it was opened up to public access the fact of the matter is, that I've been wrongly calling it an open beta when it's actually technically still very much an alpha piece of software. In the upcoming v0.7.5 of the site ( probably released sometime near the end of February / early March ) the site will switch from the currently stated "beta" classification into the more appropriate "alpha" designation in order to more accurately describe what state the site is actually at in regards to it's development cycle.
With that being said I apologize for wrongly labeling the site as a beta when it is in fact an open alpha proof of concept or development test bed which in reality is only showcasing a small fraction of planned form and functionality. The most basic of functionality ( plus some other neat functions ) is currently online and available for people to come and check out. Betting, investing, deposits, withdrawals, tips, chat, stats and other stuff is working.
Everything within my power to keep funds and data safe is being done, but bugs can and do happen!
With all that being said the ability to invest and win real STEEM is enabled!
Actively Developing an Absolute Monster Application
With over 31,000,000 bets having been served so far in the open testing phase of the Steem-Roller.com alpha and over 2,700,000 STEEM having been wagered pretty proud of holding the record for having created the site with the most STEEM bets done on it hands down. All of this done well before the site is even completed or launched is a hell of a feat. The site has made investors in the bankroll over 16,600 STEEM and with the current bankroll of around 10,300 STEEM to be won with a max single bet profit of over 550 STEEM the application is ready to facilitate some large bets and wins for those wishing to test their luck on this provably fair game.
Users can invest or bet depending on their preference.. but their is nothing stopping them from doing both. Not everyone is a gambling type but smart money will realize that investing in the bankroll over time puts the math in their favour on site with the 1% house edge coupled with the law of large numbers and provably fair system nearly ensuring returns on bankroll investing over time. In the short term with too aggressive of leverage investors may see a serious loss in investment, however with proper risk management and not over exposing themselves to risk by keeping investment leverage down profits can be realized quite easily.
If you're more the gambling type the site offers win odds as high as 98.99% and as low as 0.0001% ( one in a million ) paying out 1.00010102x and 990000x the bet amount respectively.. Not to mention STEEM bets as low as 0.00000001 can be played although bets less than 0.001 STEEM are subject to a 800 millisecond delay in order to negate anyone's ability to overwhelm the server with micro-dust betting in a DOS ( denial of service ) style attack. Deposits and withdrawals are basically instant with a maximum of 15 second delay before funds arrive and are credited to an account as well as instant withdraw of STEEM to any account of your choice. Withdrawals of STEEM can also be sent with custom memo in order to facilitate direct to exchange withdrawals in order to enable users without STEEM accounts to use the token and site. The site also allows alternative crypto currency to be deposited and credited as STEEM by utilizing blocktrades.us as an instant exchange between currency.
Building Use Cases for the STEEM Token
The end goal of the so far lengthy development process of Steem-Roller.com is to create a legitimate reason for people to purchase and hold the STEEM cryto currency while offering a state of the art investment vehicle as well as a highly responsive, secure and fair gaming experience which promotes the changing of hands of the STEEM token. Not only is the ability to move STEEM in and out of the site basically instant but so is the ability to invest, divest and change investment leverage. No locking your STEEM into a long 13 week powerdown or having to wait for a week long cooldown period to recover delegated STEEM. Investment profit is calculated every bet offering real-time profits to be realized. The whole site has been designed around liquidity of funds and speedy functionality while not compromising security.
No other STEEM gaming site currently online or being developed offers the same level of functionality that Steem-Roller.com offers. Given that the site is still very much being developed it will only get bigger and better as time goes on it's an exciting thing to be a part of, given my role of developer of what will almost certainly be the absolute premiere STEEM based gaming site in the future. Still a long way to go however if development continues forward with new functions added each release.
While currently STEEM does have a few outstanding / well developed use cases or services that utilize it, the fact if the matter is that the declining STEEM prices could very much be directly correlated to lack of use cases as while as stagnation of development within the community. The "honeymoon" phase of STEEM is long over and in order to maintain value of the token and network given its inflationary nature new and lucrative use cases must be developed and released in order to give people a reason to buy and hold STEEM, at a rate preferably greater than the roughly 8.5% inflation rate we're seeing in 2020. Not the most solid education in economics but if our onboarding and subsequent push from investors is less than the 8.5% inflation realized yearly we're bound to see further price loses on the market cap and token value.
Future Development & How to Help
The future of Steem-Roller.com while promising still has an incredibly long path ahead of it before it is a full release v1.0.0 product with all of its planned future functions coded, implemented, tested and deployed. As a one man development team it takes me a longer duration to code, test and release things on the site compared to development outfits with greater amounts of resources and man-power. With this being said the site is still miles ahead of some of the existing games featured on the STEEM netowrk while simultaneuosly being behind in some aspects in comparison to them. Development is an ongoing process, however it continues onwards with the v0.7.5 currently being coded on the private development side of things. The features and functionalities planned for the next version of the site are extensive. Please look at previous posts pertaining to Steem-Roller.com on the @klye blog in order to get an overview on what is coming near the end of February / Early March.
One large function implementation that won't be coming this next upcoming v0.7.5 patch but planned for the future is multi token investing and gambling via the inclusion of the ability to use Steem-Engine.com and SMT tokens on the site. This will be a huge undertaking development wise but will make an incredible wave throughout the various token communities when people have the ability to use their community tokens on the site. A listing fee will likely be implemented in order to facilitate SE / SMT tokens being allowed on the site in order to offset living and development costs associated with the continued coding of the site.
If you're interested in cost free ways of supporting the development of this site things such as upvoting this post, throwing @klye a witness vote or reblogging this certainly help a lot. However if you've got some development sponsorship STEEM / SBD / BTC or other crypto currency you'd like to pledge in order to alleviate the current impoverished state that development has me in I'd highly appreciate it. Honourable mentions on the site as well as perks for sponsors are available.

31million bets and it's still in aloha phase, well that's exciting then.
I think we need to promote use of Steem offline as well. I know a few businesses that accept Steem(a hotel in Guatemala and a farmer in Nigeria) but more businesses like that need to be promoted as well.

Hell yeah man! I like your thinking.
More use cases for STEEM and more attraction to buy STEEM from the outside is the key to all of our continued prosperity.

Exactly. It gives it more relevance and people outside also begin to wonder.
