'Fortnite' battle royale game starts visiting Android devices. However, in contrast to other Android games, 'Fortnite' will not be available for download on the Google Play Store.
What is the reason?
Epic Games, the game developer for 'Fortnite', took this step because Google was called to take disproportionate sales discounts on the Play Store. The complaint was conveyed by Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney, reported by Eurogamer. "Epic's goal is to bring the game directly to consumers," Sweeney said.
"We believe gamers will benefit from competition between software sources on Android. Competition between services provides many good choices for consumers and allows the best to succeed based on achievement," he continued.
Epic Games does not agree with profit sharing arranged by Google. In its share portion, Epic Games only gets 70 percent profit, while Google 30 percent.
This figure is actually the same as Apple's App Store, which was used by Epic Games to distribute 'Fortnite' to iPhone and iPad devices. But, unlike Google, Apple has tighter control over what applications and software can be downloaded to iOS devices.
