After last season’s fiasco, many fans are expecting Game of Thrones Season 8 to be leaked online as well, but so far, this has not happened. HBO has learned from last year’s problems and has doubled it security measures to protect its content. When former executives at HBO had leaked all crucial plot points of season 7, fans pretty much went wild as each and every spoiler was revealed. Though many fans had already guessed certain outcomes just based on where the show was headed, this was still huge loss for the network giant.
Of course, as a fan, would you look at any leaked content from the upcoming season? To be fair, it does spoil the experience to a very large extent. It takes away the twists and surprise of the show, and these plot-twists are pretty much second nature to Game of Thrones. It’s what a large part of the fandom wants to see. So, looking at leaked photographs, scripts or video often is detrimental to the person looking at them, as opposed to the conglomerate. Let’s face it, even with leaks, you’re going to watch the show and HBO is still going to make all the money that it’s expecting to.

Having said that, we’re obviously not saying that these leaks are harmless. Piracy undermines the hard work of content creators and producers and of course, no one really wants that. Plus, with leaks that involve images and scripts – what can one even gain from looking at them? They don’t offer as immersive an experience as the show itself, so it’s a bit puzzling to think of what fans actually get out of looking at these things. To be fair, not every fan is as spoiler-phobic as this writer, so I guess it does not ruin the experience for them.
Thankfully, there has been no leaked content as far as Game of Thrones Season 8 is concerned. What we do know about this upcoming season includes:
Dany, Jon, and Sansa are going to meet at Winterfell, which will bring the much-awaited Jon-Arya reunion. Honestly, these two ‘outcasts’ have been the closest of the Stark siblings and it’s going to be great to see them together finally.
There are 7 episodes in this season and, of course, it’s the finale. There have been rumours about HBO producing a Game of Thrones movie after this, but most people think that those rumours have been debunked.
Here’s what we are hoping will happen:
Bran will tell Jon about his true parentage.
Jaime will most likely die in Brienne’s arms (he’s always said he’s wanted to die in the arms of someone who loves him, and a lot GoT characters end up saying things that are oddly prophetic)
Cersei will die (either literally at the hand of the Valanqar, which means Jaime will kill her at some point, or in the process of birthing their child, which will still convolutedly be at the hand of the little brother).
Game of Thrones Season 8 1st episode will be released on 17 April 2019
