    depends on your goal I think, if there is some idea you have and you really want that game to exist, just do that! If you want to learn more, then choose a new genre of game and keep it relatively simple, keep expanding your skill into different genres and eventually you'll be able to make hybrids by combining engines and ideas you've had in other projects.
