Immediately after finishing Mass Effect 1, I start playing the second part, where I, of course, continued with my save from first game. Now I'm playing Mass Effect 3 so it's time to write impressions and insights from Mass Effect 2 from my noob-player perspective.
Plot
The Sovereign was destroyed, but humanity is now facing another problem. Right from the beginning, Normandy is destroyed by an unknown ship, and Shepard dies rescuing Joker. Your main character you play just died. RIP. It should be over, but it is not.
After two years, Cerberus revives him, and his adventure begins again. This time he has to solve where are disappearing the human colonies.
Continuation of the previous game
What I like most about the Mass Effect trilogy is that I can continue with my character and save from the previous game. It is the best! That's why I fell in love with this game. But I must say that my Richard Shepard looks like a jerk in the third Mass Effect. Better graphics don't suit him.
Team
Colonies are kidnapped by Collectors, and to defeat them, Shepard must assemble a team of trained specialists. There are 12 of them, from which we already know Garrus and Tali from the previous game.
I was going to recruit some guy, and when I finally got to him, I found out that it was Garrus. I almost cried with happiness to see him. You also meet other characters from the first game, but they have something better to do at the moment than to help you.
My favorite character was Mordin. I liked his accent and how he use short sentences. It is simply brilliant. However, I chose Kasumi to my squad a lot because I liked her stealth kill.
And just as in the Mass Effect 1, you can start a relationship with some of the characters. First I picked up Miranda, and then I switched to Tali. I naively thought I'd see her face under the mask, but bad luck. She's a bit like Masterchief from Halo. One simply doesn't know what she looks like.
All the time just shooting
The team members are together 12, which has come a little too much because, in order to be loyal to you, you have to fulfill their quests. It would be nice if each quest weren't essentially the same and if there weren't shooting in each of them. Why there is no quest to solve diplomatically? After completing quests for all 12 characters, I was fed up by Mass Effect and the shooting, and I had to have a pause. I hate shooters, and Mass Effect is only about that. And you must collect ammo because you run out of it every time. I can only agree with the comment of @sebi99p from previous Mass Effect post:
Enemies
Man shoots essentially everything that moves. People, robots, aliens, collectors and reaper in the final. But what I hate the most are husks. Annoying monsters that run in groups. There is never just one, and when you are surrounded by them, you are fucked.
Tell me, why?
In the final mission, when Shepard and his squad finally get to destroy the collectors, two members of the team die in the cutscene. Why? Why did I recruit them and do their quests? Why? For nothing. Trained specialists, they said...
Summary
If there were less shooting, I would enjoy the game more. The story was a little better than in the first game, and even the team members I liked more. However, there were too many of them.

Hehe, they died because you didn't pick the ideal teammates for the different parts of the "suicide mission", should also have upgrades on the ship. There's a combination of characters that allows you to escape with everyone. Here's a guide on how to pull it off: https://www.giantbomb.com/profile/spacetrucking/blog/guide-how-to-survive-the-suicide-mission-save-ever/37384/

Of course, I didn't pick the ideal teammates :D It is suicide mission so I won't sent there some healthy guys. :D So my tech specialist was Thane because he was already dying. And in the final only Thane, Jack and Legion died, so I think it is OK, but it made me angry when two of them died at the beginning in the cutscene.
My choices were: Vents - Thane, 1st Squad Leader - Garrus, Shield - Samara, 2nd Squad Leader - Garrus, Escort - Zaeed, Final team - Kasumi + dunno (maybe Grunt). So the only difference from recommended choice is Thane and Grunt in the final, but I am not sure if I picked him.
