“Stop Playing games and do something productive”
“These video games are the cause of everything”
“Playing games is going to do no good”
These statements do ring bells, right? Most of these echoes into our mind and the source are mostly our parents. The debate as to whether video games are good or bad has been going through years. Well, we humans did what we do best, that is we judged and assumed and unfortunately video games have been at the receiving end of it for mental and physical problems.
As a hardcore gamer sometimes it takes a toll on our heart to explain out the benefits of playing games but everything goes in vain just because of the people’s adamant attitude. What most people don’t realise is that video games can be a tool to improve your skills mentally and physically, But people are oblivious to this.
Much to everyone’s surprise video games can be actually good for health if played in a controlled manner and it’s obvious that anything excess can be dangerous than it doesn’t matter if it’s video games or even something as simple as water. And proclaims aren’t just being blindly fired there have been an appropriate amount of studies which reveals the unexpected.
Studies manifest that video games can actually increase a person’s problem-solving skills along with the enhancement of hand-eye coordination. Many psychiatrists now take the assistance of video games as a therapy for stress releasing and the results have shown wonders. It is also revealed that playing video games can actually help in better decision making. One of the worst stereotypes associated with video games is that they make you anti-social, but the actual fact is gamers can actually form stronger relationships than non-gamers due to their matching of love.
Apart from all scientific barrages, the one thing for which we all love video games is the fact that playing them gives ultimate satisfaction and feeling of happiness, and allows us to do something which may not be possible in real life. I mean you can’t drive around the city killing innocent civilians but video games allow us to do that. It helps us explore the creative as well the analytical side of the brain.
But just like video games themselves, the field of studying how games help us or hurt us is still very new. There is still plenty of research to be done before we find out how the virtual characters stories, and worlds we love really affect on a physical and mental level.
