If you haven't heard of the game FOLDIT, it's a game where players solve protein folding puzzles which can contribute to real scientific research. I was just reading about it and thought this might be really interesting to share with the Steemit community. A bunch of players actually just beat trained scientists in a protein folding match!
You can read about it on the link below.

Games are a great way to teach people about things. Contrary to what a lot of people think about gamers being lazy, anti-social or uninterested in school, games can actually be quite beneficial for your brain. Your brain loves exercise and stimulation, and games tend to be a pretty seductive way to get it in the mood. Games will test your logic and problem-solving skills, challenge you to think ahead and multi-task, and improve your brain function, your memory, your strategic planning, motor and social skills - all of which you can bring back with you to the real world. I love PC gaming personally and currently play a fair bit of 'Chivalry: Medieval Warfare' and 'Insurgency' (Current faves).
I'm also learning about programming on the Khan Academy website, which adds a fun element to learning. You don't have a teacher hanging down your neck, and it's even been considered to be a great alternative to school from many people. I have a few points racked up from doing the lessons, which I think might even be able to be used as a kind of resume with others - say, if you need to prove to a bunch of programmers overseas that you can do some of the work on their project, then you've got proof and points to say that you can do that work, online, easy to access.
I want to give a big thanks to Tuck-FheMan. I actually just won a free game on steemit from him called '50 years'. It's amazing the generosity and kindness you see on Steemit, and lately I've been seeing a fair bit of it offline as well. Friends here and all over the world. I also want to say a big thanks to Katecloud as well for her inspire me drawing comps, where I'd sent in a photo of my mum back in the days, which katecloud drew an awesome picture of and sent my way.
Time to get down to some gaming ;)
Thanks for reading and take care.
