Announcing the winners of last nights guessing game

in game •  7 years ago

First I'd like to thank everyone who voted. We had 12 people who posted a guess. Not to bad for the first go around. Thank you folks for voting.

I'll say this about the pictures they made the glass look smaller than it was in real life. I was hoping someone would get the real answer because it was kind of a trick question. A lot of people understood what I was going for by only counting the copper pennies and not the zinc so they low balled the number thinking there would only be a few. However these aren't your ordinary everyday pennies you save in a jar to bring to the bank when it's full.

The answer I was looking for was:

All of them

You see I have a big bag of 1982 and older copper pennies that I've been collecting for several years now because they are actually worth more than a penny. So I filled the glass up with all of those pennies and not the junky zinc ones I take to the bank. I think they are worth 2-3 cents a piece right now with price of copper so I've been saving for the day copper goes through the roof and I could sell them for a nice price to some shady ebay buyer for them to do whatever they want with them.

So who was the closest?

The actually number of copper pennies was three dollars and eight-four cents or 384.

Which means: @wakeupworldnews was the closest with a guess of 254. Only 130 short.

I also gave out a 2nd and 3rd place because what the hell way not it was fun seeing the guesses come in.

Here's the rundown on the prizes:

1st @wakeupworldnews with 254. Prize 5 SBD

2nd @chromiumone with 225. Prize 2 SBD

3rd @hebrewhousewife with 157 Prize 1 SBD

The prizes have already be sent to you boys and girls.

I hope everyone enjoyed it. I definitely enjoyed doing it, it was something different from my normal rants about politics and such so I look forward to doing it again and you guys should expect another guessing game next week some time.

Thanks,
@wakeupnd

Congrats to the winners. Sneaky of you to fill the glass with copper pennies.

I enjoyed it! I love the little lotto games. It's so sweet and fun to play! Thank you@ Good Times!

Awesome cheers mate! First competition I have won in a while, I actually read it wrong and didn't pick up the copper part...would have been o lower guess if I read it right....nice comp! Look forward to more in the future! Cheers again....

You're welcome man. It turned out in your favor.

Oh, Sweet.....
Thank you !!

You're welcome, thanks for guessing.

Woo hoo! Now I don’t fell so stupid about my guess. I knew I should have gone with my first guess of 300 some. Plus, another giveaway should have been that there were no shiny coins in there. Thanks for the fun game!

Yup, 300 would of been a very good guess. I was hoping someone would of noticed no shiny coins and assume most of them were old but nope a lot of people guessed low.

congratulations for the winner

Thanks! I was way off, but enjoyed playing.

that was fun

:)

What's your view on cleaning coins? I know so many people say to not clean them, but is it really that big of a deal? I'm going through my coins right now. Pennies are sure easier to come by than the quarters and such!

What type of coins are we talking about here?

Water and a toothbrush is your safest bet for collectable coins. For anything else you can clean them with baking soda, water and a toothbrush add some vinegar or lemon juice if you want to put a nice shine on them.

Both silver dollars and half dollars, and the copper pennies.

Water and a toothbrush is your safest bet for cleaning silver coins. I would not recommend any type of abrasive like baking soda or any acid on them, same thing goes for old wheat pennies.

Thanks for the tip! Much appreciated

congrats
