We are all patiently waiting for season 8 to be released but when exactly will it be hitting screens? Here’s everything you need to know about the season 8 release date.
The next and last season of Game of Thrones is confirmed for a 2019 release date.
HBO made the annoucement back at the start of the year and also shared details of the directors and writers for season eight.
Season eight production is taking place in Croatia, Northern Ireland and Iceland.
The cast and crew have been spotted at various locations across the world shooting scenes on the fantasy epic, including Dubrovnik where Jon Snow actor Kit Harington was apparently seen by a Croatian fan.
As well as Harington being spotted, he was seen filming scenes with Lena Headey - better known as Cersei Lannister - and John Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarly.
HBO programmer Casey Bloys said last year that a 2019 release date is plausible due to the writing process involved in the show’s final season.
“They have to write the episodes and figure out the production schedule. We’ll have a better sense of that once they get further into the writing,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
The HBO boss also explained that the production of season eight will be “extremely cinematic” so the production schedule will differ somewhat from previous seasons.
Season seven was released in July last year, having started filming in August the previous year, 2016.
Filming for season eight officially started in October 2017.
In another interview with the publication, Bloys explained: "They take the time they need to do the show at its highest level of quality.
"As the show has gone on, it's gotten bigger – big battle scenes, big special effects. These things take time.
"Here's the one thing I can assure you: [showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff] were not sitting around on a beach waiting to go back to work.
"They're perfectionists, and this is the soonest it can come back at a level of quality that they are comfortable with."
Maisie Williams, who plays the younger sister to Jon Snow, Ayra Stark has stated "You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities."
During an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, she revealed she' knew the ending of the show and that it was "incredible".
So it will be a year of waiting, but yet we know when it does come out in 2019 it is going to be goooodd!!
