At Gamescom, we got out first look at A Plague Tale: Innocence, developed by Asobo Studios and Focus Home Interactive. This gameplay, unveiled behind closed door at E3, shows Amicia and her younger brother Hugo as they travel trough 1349’s France, a time where rats swarm in waves and eat everything in their path, and a plague has affected the population.

The video follows out protagonists as they make their way across the site of a brutal clash between the French and British armies. And gives a one hell of a introduction to this very dark and somber gaming experience. Using crafting and your quick thinking as a way to move forward, A Plague Tale completely turned into my favorite game of Gamescom so far.

Even though is still in development, I can’t help to wonder how amazing it will get as it goes along. The characterization and the emotion behind each of our leads won me over, as well as the critters that threaten to enjoy a nice human-sized stake.

I can’t wait to see more of this project.

Score 5/5. A Plague Tale: Innocence comes out in 2019 for Xbox One.

Enjoy the gameplay!
