FORGOTTEN GAMES

Every day millions of people are playing video games. They really enjoy it and some of them can sit in front of their computer (or laptop) and just relax while at the same time killing other players in multiplayer titles.

Some rather prefer playing singleplayer games, as they don't need any other players or internet connection and they can spend their time on their own.

Today I'm going to talk about type of games that seems to be forgotten.
By that i mean Roguelike and Rogue-lite games.

  1. What is Roguelike?

Roguelike is a subgenre of role-playing video games (RPG) where you will mostly go through dungeons, levels are generated randomly and there is permanent death of the character. They mostly have Fantasy elements of in-game world. Roguelike games are mostly 2D and their graphics are pixelated.

  1. Why is it called Roguelike?

Name came from game called 'Rogue' (from 1980 made by Michael Toy and Glenn Wichman) which is the forerunner and the namesake of the genre.

  1. What is Rogue-lite?

Rogue-lite is more recent type of Roguelike games, people also call it Roguelike-like or procedural death labyrinths. Biggest difference between Roguelike and Rogue-lite is that in the 1st one you wasn't saving any progress after you ended game (by dying or winning). In Rogue-lites you can unlock more content (for example new characters) by killing bosses or doing other activities. If you unlocked something, even if you would die, you don't lose progress you already got (by which i mean that you don't lose what you unlocked if you die)

  1. Why are Roguelikes 'FORGOTTEN' for me?

Don't take it seriously, I'm not saying that they're forgotten for everyone and no one plays them. Roguelikes and Rogue-lites have thousands of fans all over the world. But there are less and less Roguelikes made. I hope that there will be more of those games as they are my favourite type and more people would like to see it.
