Is the XFL going down the tubes? If so, read on. This article looks at the recent events that occurred in the XFL, Georges St-Pierre vs Carlos Condit, Jon Jones vs Chael Sonnen, and Alex Volkanovski vs Gray Maynard 2 at UFC 125.

XFL's downfall
Many people have blamed the XFL for its downfall. Its premier game was a big snore in Las Vegas and a total flop in Orlando, but that's not the entire story. The league was actually doing quite well until the "pandemic" hit and its football was very good. In addition, the presentation was great and its ratings were decent. The only thing that killed it was its inability to find a way to stay profitable.

Georges St-Pierre vs Carlos Condit
The UFC lightweight title is up for grabs in this Saturday night's rematch, and the winner of the fight will be crowned the new champion. The interim title will also disappear. While St-Pierre has a strong record and is a former two-time UFC champion, Carlos Condit is a proven contender in the lightweight division. The former UFC lightweight champion has a 28-5 overall record and an impressive 14-1 record in the last six and a half years.

Jon Jones vs Chael Sonnen
This will be the third title fight between Jones and Sonnen. Sonnen has seven wins and four losses. The most recent loss was to Anderson Silva, who is a former middleweight champion. However, Sonnen has gained some hype for this fight with his charisma and self-promotion.

Alex Volkanovski vs Gray Maynard 2 at UFC 125
The card at UFC 125 featured 13 bouts and a UFC Featherweight Championship fight. Volkanovski entered the matchup on a 19-fight win streak and was 22-1 overall. Volkanovski's next opponent was Brian Ortega, a returning contender who hadn't stepped inside the Octagon since October last year.

Frankie Edgar vs Gray Maynard 2 at UFC 125
Maynard dominated the first round, but Edgar's excellent footwork and hand speed kept him from knocking him out. In addition to outboxing his Xtreme Couture rival, Edgar also out wrestled him. Just three years ago, Maynard had taken Edgar to the mat at will, but he was able to avoid taking Maynard down in this rematch. Maynard landed just eight of 27 strikes against Edgar's twenty-two. But he finally managed to take him down with a big slam midway through the fight.
