What Microsoft needs to do to win E3 tomorrow

  1. Project Scorpio's Price
Whether you're a die hard Microsoft or Sony fan, you cannot deny the unstoppable power of the PS4 this console generation and this domination started at E3 2013 with 3 simple numbers. 399. Three hundred and ninety-nine dollars that is, 100 Dollars cheaper than the XBox1. Microsoft has lots of ground to recover, but it's in a prime position to do so. The Scorpio is claimed to be the world's most powerful console, but that doesn't matter if its not easily accessible. Sony's answer to "4K" can be purchased as low as $350 and Microsoft needs to stick it close. $399 is the magic number yet again 4 years later. Without the burden of the Kinect camera this price point seems very attainable and will surely generate massive buzz this holiday season. Now Microsoft isn't in any dire position, but if they want to stay relevant this generation they cannot repeat the same mistakes they made at launch.
  2. The Games
The world's most powerful console might as well be the world's most glorified paper weight if Microsoft doesn't bring along unique experiences. Sure, the aspect of true 4k support and 60 FPS is definitely alluring, but Microsoft cannot rely on running AAA games slightly better. Most people are just fine with there HD televisions or are still upgrading, 4k is still a rather rare privilege to the masses. The Scorpio needs great exclusives to be a hit. The Cancellation of Scalebound came as a heart breaking blow earlier this year, but Sea of Thieves and Crackdown 3 look like a promising start. A new Forza may be revealed, but it seems unlikely, as does a new Halo title this early after the fifth's stumble. Bioware's new IP Anthem will definitely generate hype as it will most likely be touted to run the best on Scorpio's platform. While not an exclusive some Xbox exclusive content first would go a long way. A new Killer Instinct would be a nice draw for the fighting game crowd, but what Microsoft really needs is a new IP. More importantly they need to treed into Sony territory with an action-adventure game to break the shooter first mentality the Xbox is associated with. Scalebound seemed to fit that bill perfectly, so let's hope Microsoft has a back up plan.
  3. Timed exclusivity
This generation saw the likes of developers moving their timed DLC content to Sony's console, a reversal of last generation. Huge titles like Call of Duty and Destiny drove people to the PlayStation, and Microsoft would be smart to try to reclaim this player base. Might the new Call of Duty WW2 revert timed exclusivity back to Microsoft? Will Bioware's new IP Anthem do anything to bring players to Microsoft? What partnerships are Microsoft brewing?
  4. Xbox 1 and Xbox Slim price reductions
The announcement of a new console version enviably means a price drop for previous iterations, but Microsoft would be extremely wise to lower the price to compete with the Nintendo Switch and undermine the PS4 and slim versions. This would cause a huge surge in their mainstream consoles.
  5. VR/Holo-lense support for Scorpio
Microsoft has been teasing AR for quite sometime now, might the companies first dive be arriving with the Scorpio? It's unlikely, but i wouldn't count VR out yet. With the souped up hardware Microsoft could offer a VR experience of much higher quality than the PSVR, but still be more accessible than the more expensive HTC Vive or the Oculus Rift. Could this technology work with the existing Kinect 2.0? If so there already a player base with the camera and it could make Microsoft's earlier missteps have more validity.
