Gaming, a fun and anti-depressing way to get over certain stress in your lives or a way to kill time, has always been a hobby of a million of gamers world wide and always continues to grow, with the help of the online community, people are always connected and able to share the fun and challenge together. But what happened to those times where, other countries couldn't compete in those online communities? Have you ever asked, as a true gamer back in those good old 90's and early 2000's where games helped connected players either via LAN (Local Area Connection) and/or online?
In these modern times, everything is always online now and as a gamer here in the Philippines, yes I live in the Philippines, we have the slowest net in the Asia Pacific, how does one country compete with others? Especially when they are tons of awesome games out there that are now all online based? This is all because of the monopoly of our Internet Service Provider that are taxing us too much, we pay more than we shouldn't for a very small amount of internet speed. A lot of games being sold here are close to useless as we only benefit like half of the features of the game, and the other half is all online based. This is not worth the price we pay for as I highly believe that, in order for a game to be much more successful, it should be both, offline and online, meaning, by adding a LAN feature, you are still connecting with your friends in the same area, which does not require to spend much more on the internet connection issue. By adding this simple LAN feature, you are also enabling another way to connect to your friends in a much more easier way and on top of that, you actually get to see each other and get to enjoy the game better than competing online where you can't always rely on your net connection to give you the best gaming experiences.
How about you? What do you think as a gamer in any consoles or PC, does having a LAN feature help keep the gaming community still enjoyable? Let me know your thoughts on this. Hope you guys enjoy my little story on how is the life, gaming here in the Philippines.
