The Amonkhet Block consists of two sets, the main Amonkhet large set with 269 cards and the Hour of Devastation small set with 199 cards. There were also some extra cards that break the numbering system, because who expects numbers to add up to a stated sum? Nonetheless, let's take a look at the contents of these three packs! I think I'll continue making an arc of common cards, keeping the trio of uncommons in the bottom left, and the rares and other interesting stuff in the top right. If you'd prefer something else, let me know in the comments!
If you were to join a booster draft event during the Hour of Devastation release, you would get two packs from that set and one from Amonkhet. However, the general consensus seems to be that the small set was underwhelming, so I bought only one. Let's take a look at the contents!
As you can see, the second Amonkhet pack contained a foil card and a full-art land card. There were no Amonkhet Invocation cards in these packs, but that's not much of a surprise due to their rarity. I went through the commons and pulled the cards that look particularly useful for my budget decks.
While this isn't necessarily representative of the sets as a whole, I find it interesting that while one third of the cards were from Hour of Devastation, only one fourth of the common cards from that set interested me. It's not much of a deviation from statistical odds of such a small sample size, but it might indicate something. Or maybe not.
If you ever want to explore what any given card does, check out the official card catalog at the Gatherer website from Wizards of the Coast. For example, here's Blur of Blades along with an official ruling from a question on how it works from the judging committee under certain circumstances that may arise in the game.
As for the uncommons and rares, there's a much smaller sample size to consider. I also included the foil card and the full art land with the rares.
Liliana's Mastery is useful in any zombie tribal deck, but not especially valuable. Shadow of the Grave relies on cycling and discarding deck archetypes to be useful, so it's quite hit-and-miss with more miss than hit in most cases. Hour of Revelation could be a handy board reset when facing multiple opponents. Painted bluff is a useful card in multi-color decks because many other cards with the same ability enter tapped or have an extra cost of some sort. Even in foil, though, it's not exactly a valuable card.
All things considered, I like the theme of Egyptian mythology that flavored this set, and there are some interesting cards in it, but these packs were a tad underwhelming. You'd be better off buying single cards online or at a card shop if you want something specific.

Mtggoldfish.com is a decent resource for market prices. I used to endorse pucatrade, but not anymore. You're probably going to need to use other online auction houses. But I might be willing to buy your collection for Steem if there's anything interesting to me and the price is right.

Thx man, I'm gonna take a look at the site for a price. I may try to market some locally too, but I was hoping to get an idea of value so I don't let them go for nothing. I have about 3 of those long white card boxes full of them, not really sure what's in there at all.

Wow, I'm going to have to take a good look, most don't have any markings at all, but I have no idea what set they would be part of. I'm glad they have the photos, I recognize a few from my old deck that claim to be worth in the 50-100 range.

Remember, price depends heavily on card condition.
While I do not endorse using Pucatrade, their search function is handy for identifying which set your card is from. It works a lot better than gatherer.

Wow, that's a great tip thanks. Seeing all the variations head to head will help. Such slight differences it seams.

You got a couple good draws! I really liked the Amonkhet set. I really like the foil Painted Bluffs.

I am tempted to build a standard deck based on cycling and discarding. I think it would be too janky though.

Amonkhet is the set to do that with, for sure. Embalm is also a cool ability as well.

I do like the idea of plains-aligned zombies in the context of this world.
