Laser cut boat meeples

in games •  7 years ago  (edited)

I play a lot of board games, and while many of them come with an abundance of high quality parts, every once in a while I want something a bit better.

Today, I found myself in need of some boat tokens, and so I had some time in between classes, and decide to make some.

I started with some 6.35 mm acrylic.

Loaded it, and my design into my trusty epilog laser.

And started it cutting. After about 30 minutes, I had this.

Now that was great, but I still needed pieces for the other players. When I finished, I ended up with an entire armada.

I did learn something rather interesting. Not all of the colors of acrylic cut the same, even when on the same settings. I don't know of this is just an issue with this particular supplier, or if something else is going on, but I intend to experiment more, and will post my results.

Interesting, i want a laser like that!!!

They are a lot of fun to play with. You should look and see if you have a maker space near you. If you do, they often have lasers like this.
