Dragon’s Lair Trilogy Now Available for PlayStation 4

in games •  6 years ago

Fans of classic arcade games will probably remember Dragon’s Lair as a seminal title. It almost changed arcade games, if not for that pesky high cost to play and develop. Hand drawn animation, great audio, and a challenge level that was through the roof (partly because it cost so much to learn the ropes). Well, not only is Dragon’s Lair available for PlayStation 4, so is Dragon’s Lair II: Time Warp and Space Ace.

Limited Run Games are building quite a game release library - one amazing classic at a time. This time, it is three titles in the Dragon’s Lair Trilogy. You can still grab the Classic Edition on their website but the Standard Edition is sold out already.

This is not a brand new release though as the Dragon’s Lair Trilogy has been available on the Nintendo Wii since 2010, later the PlayStation 3 and 4 PSN editions were made available, according to our friends over at Retro Game Network. It was also available on the PlayStation Network for a short period. This is the first time that Dragon’s Lair Trilogy is available in a physical format for the PlayStation 4 though.

The Classic Edition features a higher price point but for that you get a special laserdisc stylized box that is individually numbered. The kicker is, these boxes feature a special surprise when opened. Also in the box will be three lithographs, an 18x24 poster of Dragon’s Lair artwork, a papercraft model of the original arcade cabinet, and finally a black nickel enamel pin bearing the likeness of Dirk the Daring. If you are a true retro gaming fan then you probably remember the era of “feelies”. Limited Run Games seems to remember that period fondly as well.

Fans of the classic Full Motion Video arcade games in this collection will want to purchase them immediately.

Head over to Limited Run Games’ website and place your order.

If you miss out, or cannot afford the entry fee, check out eBay for a deal on a previous release of these games.
