Since yesterday evening Groudon has made an earth shattering return to Raids. Where I live that usually means the next day, as those changes go live at 10 pm here and there are rarely any Raids hatching after that time in my area. Today some Groudon Raids showed up. One would hatch nearby about 30 minutes after we took over the Houten Schip Gym. So we some of us decided to go and do that Raids. We walked around for a while and then made our way back there. We had about 5 minutes before the Raid would hatch when we were waiting there. Nobody in the group chat wanted to join so we didn't have to wait for anyone.
While we waited I decided I would finally power up my Palkia so that I could use it in the Raid. As I didn't find a need for it in previous Raids. From one of the Palkia Raids back when it was a Raid boss I managed to get a 100% IV, which is my first and currently only 100% IV Legendary.
I already put some Rare Candy in Palkia when my inventory was too full to make some space. So I had 132 Palkia Candy already when I started to power it up. I figured that would definitely not be enough, I just wasn't too sure how many Candy I would need in total so I just powered it up until I ran out of Palkia Candy before using more Rare Candy.

Once I started to use more Rare Candy I ended up using a total of 116 extra Rare Candy to completely power up my Palkia. Luckily I still had 200 Rare Candy in my bag so that was not a problem. That means I've used 225,000 Stardust and 248 Palkia Candy to get my Palkia maxed to level 40. With the moveset Dragon Tail and Hydro Pump.
Then we started the Groudon Raid once I was done with the power ups. My Palkia was first in the recommended list. Unfortunately this Groudon did not really like any Water-type Pokémon at all as it had the Solar Beam Charged Attack. So my Palkia basically got one-shot when Groudon used its Solar Beam. I did seem like my Palkia still had a low health bar left and was attacking even though I couldn't see it anymore. So I suppose it did get a Hydro Pump off before I switched to my 2nd Pokémon. The Groudon Raid itself went well with a group of 7, even with it being weather boosted. My Groudon had a CP below 2900 which is not good so I traded it after the Raid out of which I received an even worse one.
I'll definitely be looking forward to doing some more Groudon Raids while its back as a Raid Boss. Hopefully I can encounter a Shiny Groudon this time!
Tomorrow Raikou Raid Day will take place. We made plans with the group for everyone who is available to join to meet up at the Wooden Tree Sculpture Gym and do several Raikou Raids starting from there. I should have time to join then so I will most likely be doing some Raikou Raids and maybe get a Shiny Raikou!
Are you looking forward to those?
