Slakoth Community Day was a disaster in my region

Today the monthly Community Day took place on Pokémon GO at local time from 3 to 6 pm. This month it featured Slakoth, the slacker Pokémon. As always the Pokémon featured in the Community Day gets its Shiny form added to the game, so today Shiny Slakoth, Vigoroth and Slaking were added into the game. Evolving Slakoth or Vigoroth into Slaking during or up to one hour after the event gives it the Charged move Body Slam. This event also features 4x Incubator effectiveness, meaning that newly incubated eggs only take 1/4th of the usual distance to hatch. I kinda thought the Community Day was on Sunday so I had already placed some new eggs in incubators last night, whoops xD

I started the event near De Werft Gym again, which is close to the Houten Schip Gym that we often take over as a team. I met up with several people I know there and we walked around together for a while. Then I ran into two friends from college too with whom I spent part of the event as well. It was raining before the event, but stopped prior to it. A while later it did start to rain a bit again, then stopped after like two minutes. About 10 minutes later there was a lot of rain, which endured for a while. After that it sometimes drizzled a bit, and then remained clear for the rest of the event luckily.

During the event we already noticed there was often a complete lack of Slakoth spawns. So many different Pokémon spawning. After about an hour or so of the event I also noticed that the weather icon had disappeared. Which you can see in the following screenshot. Apparently there was a problem with it and Niantic did write a post about that on Twitter.

In this screensho you can also see the complete lack of Slakoth, at about 2 hours into the event. Here I didn't come across any Slakoth until the Pokéstop you can see at the top right of the Gym. About 15 Pokémon spawns and only 1 of them being a Slakoth. The first hour was quite okay, but after the first hour the amount of Slakoth spawns already decreased quite a bit, and we'd consider ourselves lucky if we found one after 2 hours of the event.

When I last checked Niantic has not addressed this issue with the horrible spawns at all. I'm not sure if that was due to the weather function not working, but it shouldn't be cause of that. I hope Niantic gives us some information about this and some compensation. Perhaps by giving us another 2 or 3 hour event with Slakoth later this month.

From the Slakoth I did encounter I unfortunately couldn't find any Shiny.

I traded several Slakoth with others and ended up with 2 Lucky Slakoth out of those trades. They were 82 and 84% IV. I found a few Slakoth in the wild above 82% IV, the best one out of those was a 93% IV. So I traded all of those away as well as their stats weren't high enough after I checked my other Lucky Slakoth I already had. As I already had 3 Lucky Slakoth. The best of those is a 98% IV, unfortunately it's a really low level one though. As you can see even after evolving that one the Slaking is only at 862 CP. I also evolved my 93% IV Lucky Slakoth into Slaking. I now have two Slaking with Body Slam. I might end up powering one or both of these up to use as potential Gym Defenders.
