Squirtle Community Day. Shiny Squirtle and Squirtle with sunglasses!

Today has been the July Community Day in Pokémon GO which featured Squirtle with the exclusive Hydro Cannon move available for Blastoise. It was only available within the 3 hour window of the Community Day event by evolving a Wartortle into Blastoise

I started the event with a Squirtle from a quest as I had the quest to evolve a water type Pokémon in my list prior to the start. It wasn't a good one, but it was nice to start out with. I didn't have time to play during the whole event, but I was still able to get one shiny Squirtle!

The time I was able to play during the event I was walking around with friends, catching all the Squirtle I could find and those from lures too! My incense didn't give me many Squirtle this time around. In the time I was able to play I was able to catch a total of 70 Squirtle, which isn't too bad. Not a good shiny rate with just 1 shiny Squirtle, but I'm glad I did get at least one! :D

As many of us may remember, back in the early days of the Pokémon Anime there was a Squirtle Squad wearing sunglasses. Niantic decided to give us a special Squirtle with sunglasses during this community day! Most Pokéstops gave a special field research quests that required to capture 5 Squirtle and gave a Squirtle with sunglasses as wild encounter reward. When evolving it the Wartortle and Blastoise both keep the sunglasses!! So I've evolved two Squirtle to have Squirtle, Wartortle and Blastoise with sunglasses in my Pokémon list!

These look so awesome! I didn't manage to get a shiny Squirtle with sunglasses, so I do hope they return sometime in the future to have another chance at getting one! They also fit in nicely alongside the summer-style Pikachu with its sunglasses!
