I had played fortnite battle royale with my wife. She was on pc and I was on ps4. People doubted me that you could do this. I even emailed epic and they said it was not possible but it actually is. You have to follow some specific steps.
- link your epic games account to your PS4 psn account
- have your friend on pc send you a friend request
- load up the epic games launcher on pc/mac to accept that friend request (you won't see it on the ps4, has to be done on the epic games launcher)
- now that you are both friends . both PC and PS4 players need to load the game up
- the PC player should be able to now see the PS4 player in their friends list
- the PC player should be able to join the PS4 players party and play together.
I have made a video demonstrating this is possible.

I didn't notice any additional lag. Sometimes with a 100 people in the starting area there is some lag but once everyone is dropped on the island it seems to run pretty well. The pc person could technically have an advantage but with this game you have the choice of mouse and keyboard on the PS4 as well so technically the PC and PS4 players have the same options for controls b/c you can use a controller on the pc as well. So it's really only limited by the control scheme you choose since both platforms support mouse and keyboard and controller

PC player would have a huge advantage because of how quickly they can build. Hopefully epic disables this.

That is pretty cool and hopefully it will pave the way for the future of inter-platform gaming. Like @dandida said though, it would no doubt give the PC player the advantage on games like FPS. Maybe not on other games though.

yeah that is true. But the funny thing is that I play most fps game on PC with the steam controller and still do pretty well. Interestingly enough fortnite supports mouse and keyboard on ps4 so technically PS4 players could have the same advantage if they choose to plug a mouse and keyboard into their ps4

Wow that's interesting! Who was party leader? I wonder if you were facing PC or PS4 players. Have you tried the mouse and keyboard on the PlayStation as well? Maybe I should give that a try.
