I think Super Mario Odyssey is the better game. Both games did revolutionize their respective franchise, but Odyssey has more to do in its open world, compared to Breath of the Wild.
But still, both games are well worth buying.

Honestly, and I know I am going to get some hate here. I feel both games weren't as good as I had myself hoping they would be. Both felt like they needed something more. IDK if it was because Zelda was basically finished for a long time and just waiting for the Switch to come out, so technically it was a Wii U port, but it just felt like it was underwhelming. Same with Mario, I felt they could have had more stages and worlds, but they just decided to put a bunch of Power Moons. Regardless, both games are MUST OWNS on the Switch and definitely NEAR masterpieces. I just wish for something more. I look forward to the next video.

Team Mario. Zelda just entered a genre that games like Skyrim are already in, and has a much less busy world. Mario redefined (again) the 3D platformer.

Having played both pretty thoroughly, I had the most enjoyment with Breath of the Wild. Mario Odyssey is hands down the best Mario game to date, but it didn't offer me the complexity, story, and replay value that Zelda games offer. It's no surprise is takes developers longer to make Zelda games than Mario titles.
