Game rev: Final Fantasy 7 - why its regarded to be quite possibly the best rpg ever made

Today im going to talk about Final Fantasy 7

I consider myself very lucky due to the fact that when FF7 was released (January 1997), I was on junior high and had all the time in the world to play it. When I first saw it i was mesmerized by the advancement in the graphics as most of rpgs prior to its release was all in 2D.

The first thing you'll notice when you grab the controller and start a new game is that upon introduction of the game the soundtrack hits you hard. I remember telling myself upon hearing the opening theme that "this is going to be an awesome RPG"

And then immediately after that, there is the gripping storyline, the story about how Cloud(main protagonist) just wanted to finish the mercenary job with Barret for personal gain but soon after ended up realizing that all the people as well as the planet is at risk because the Shinra company is draining the lifesource out of it.

So what makes FF7 unique? It is unique due to the fact that it hits all the right marks and then some in a rpg

Awesome storyline : one of the best rpg scripts..check
Unique battle sequence : it introduced limit break, special summoning like knights of the round..check
Mini games : tons of mini games, gold saucer ie..check
Soundtrack : Master Nobuo Uematsu composition kickass soundtrack.. check
Unique class weapons : each character has their own unique ultimate weapon.. check

These are the things i saw that makes FF7 special. Apparently it would be hard pressed for the new generation to appreciate the game due to the current advancement in graphics and gameplay of newly released games.

You would have to have played the game during 1997 in order to appreciate its wonder. This game has literally changed the way rpgs are made, it revolutionized the standard for role playing games and this is why its considered to be "The greatest of all time".

Thankfully, Square Enix is creating a "Remake" of this awesome game, while most people wont agree that this game is the best, I will have to standby my own opinion and say that indeed FF7 holds its own ground and i consider it "the best rpg ive ever played" 😊
