Pirates of the Caribbean Online - The Remake

in gaming •  7 years ago  (edited)

Pirates of the Caribbean Online by Disney was the most enjoyable pirate-themed game in the past. It closed down on the 19th of September, 2013. The reason for the shutdown was the fact that Disney shifted their development focus towards other online games, as well as mobile ones.

Then some time later, somewhere in July 2015, a group of fans decide to make a recreation of the game. Disney was fine with this and the recreation generated a lot of hype from former players. More and more people are discovering that there is a recreation of their childhood game happening.

Though the game is in beta phase right now, there still is lots of activity going on. You can create an account and play for a specified time daily. It's basically unlimited, but with a beta-key you can play whenever you want.

The developers are working hard and releasing news of the updates and such. You can see that they are consistent about it brings joy to fans since they're bringing the game back to reality. There is still lot of work to be done before releasing the full version, but it seems to be going great.

If you're not familiar with Pirates of the Caribbean Online, it's an MMORPG which is obviously based on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. There's lots of fun features in the game - from regular ones like leveling up and such, to really ecstatic ones like plundering, buying your own ships and commandeering with your crew. It's really simple to get involved and there's a lot to stay for.

Even though the game is really simple and doesn't look groundbreaking, it still attracts me as a former player. There are lots of memories this game left behind and I wish to renew them by plundering a ton of ships and exploring the world of POTCO.

Something like World of Warcraft?

Well I wouldn't compare it to WoW. It's much more simple.

This can be fun haha :D

It is fun :)

I remember this back in the day it was an awesome game. I doubt that Disney is actually ok with this private server though but who really cares, amirite?

They are in no way related to Disney but from what I recall they gave the OK. Not 100% sure, though.
