Nintendo Got it Right!

It is demonstrably much that is right with Nintendo's latest console, Switch. The recurring articles in the subject praising the console would speak for that in any case.

The initial screen sets the games in focus, with other functions neatly tucked underneath

Something that is taken up a little less often is the interface, ie menus and similar aspects that you use when you need to get some insight into what's happening. Switch has an very modern interface, very similar to the aesthetics of mobile operating systems, but still not a copy of what's already available. The similarities with Sony's interfaces from the past are present in some degree, but in the case for the Switch, the menu choices are not overwhelmed with features and services that few think are relevant. The risk is of course that there will be more and more icons, menus and all that added in updates, making the most menial task a choir in navigating all of the colorful options. Something gamer's rarely want, by the way.

The news section is appealing.

The dark layout is better looking, right?

But as of right now, late in 2017, the Switch interface feels like a breath of fresh air. It's not pompous or intrusive, but rather smart and inviting. And the console is so fast, you are up and playing right away, so the interface is really only there when you want it to be there.

I do not think Nintendo will overload the Switch interface with a lot of unnecessary features and icons. It will probably not be to much more than this, much thanks to the often-ridiculed strategy of smartphone apps that Nintendo has decided to support. Needing to download and use a smartphone voice communications app when playing is a prudent example of more of an friction-free interaction, and it keeps the Switch clean, it can be game console, not a communication hub.

Which probably is a good thing.

Bonus!

After you get your 13th game on your Switch console, the menu will change from a side-scrolling one, to keeping all your games neatly on one page. The secret page only gets unlocked when you have thirteen games and very much helps to navigate when your starting to get a large library. Well played Nintendo, well played.

Nice review! I got my nintendo switch a month ago and have loved the system and games so far!

Awesome man, what do you game most? :) Have any Switch favorite?

Obviously Breath of the Wild has taken up most of my time on the game like most new console purchasers. I am interested in looking into Splatoon 2. It looks interesting to me.

I did write an review on steemit for Splatoon 2, if you want to know more about what i thought about it in detail you can read it here :)

But splatoon is a fun game to toy around with, but its hard to find a better game after playing Breath of the Wild ;) Zelda is just so god damn epic...

Got mine the day it came out! probably played it more than my Xbox one that i've had for years already haha.

Nintendo knows gaming, that's for sure!! :D Thanks for reading=)
