The Future of World of Warcraft & Blizzard

There are still cataclysmic (no pun intended) events of Azeroth that we have not yet explored. There are all possible kinds of terrains we have not yet traversed, cultures to finish quests for and enemies that we have not yet killed. The abundance of ideas that is what the vast Warcraft universe consists of leaves no shortage of ideas to the developers on what to do next. But everything has an end, and i think we seem to be closing in on filling WoW with almost all the relevant lore out there.

We have been exploring the corners of this universe for quite some while now and i think many veteran players would agree with me also in saying that Azeroth's set of enemies are starting to feel old. Legion might be one of the biggest threats to the Warcraft universe - a threat that we have felt the presences of since Warcraft 2 but their presence seems to finally be closing in to the end. If the world crushing titan Sargeras is defeated with the upcoming attack upon Argus, the burning legion will more or less be sorely defeated, but who could possibly fill the shoes of such a large threat as Sargeras?

A flora of ideas are sprouting up like weeds in the forums about this topic, but these are just guesses from dedicated fans. Even though Burning Legion has been an important enemy for quite some time now, there are even larger threats lurking in the depths of the Azeroth universe. The Old Gods and their creators, Void Lords, represents an even bigger threat to Azeroth than any of the previously encountered ones. These are the creators of the world itself, so they are not exactly the first dudes you want to mess with

"The Old Gods and their creators, Void Lords, represents an even bigger threat to Azeroth than any of the previously encountered ones."

But okay, so let's say the Warcraft universe adds the creators of it's own gaming universe as a threat, what could possibly come after that? Well nobody knows, but what we have recently got to know during a conference with Activision Blizzard, is that other titles seem to be coming to us, far away in the horizon possibly, but still it's good to know that one of the master gaming companies of all times have no intent of slowing down it's creative factory. If the story of World of Warcraft is coming to an end, I need a new epic Blizzard title ASAP.

During the Earnings Call 2017 conference Activision Blizzard talked a lot of what the studio behind classics like Warcraft, Diablo, Starcraft and Overwatch are up to. Apparently Blizzard is focusing on a couple new titles and they state that they have never felt better from a creative perspective than they are feeling right now. They also point out that they won't stress out any title, but everything will come out in it's due time. But as we have come to learn about Blizzard's games, it's that they are well worth waiting for.

Blizzards founder and president Mike Morhaime:

"In terms of new IP, our pipeline is in a better position than ever before in our history. we're committed to incubating new initiatives. We now have multiple dedicated incubation teams that are being led by some of our most experienced game designers at Blizzard. I should say that creating new, Blizzard-quality games on any platform will take time. And as we've shown in the past, we're not going to release any games that we don't feel live up to our expectations or those of our players. When we do bring new experiences to current or new platforms for new and existing IPs, they're going to be ideas that are our teams are passionate about and that we think there is a large audience for."

Wow is a huge money maker for Blizzard, and they will not give up yet. Not until they decide to make MMORPG of same magnitude. It's working, why should they change it.

While I don't play WoW anymore, it is obvious that they are slowly, but surely coming to a story-line end. But the thing is: they can easily put as many expansions between Legion and the eventual Void Gods expansion that would tie the story to an end.

Specially because they just introduced space travel, players can easily go round the universe purging planets inhabited with Old God like creatures.

Great post! Would you mind if I included it in today's "best of gaming"?

You made some great points dude, they could probably twist that story of every drip of juice it got :) Just as long as they do it good it's fine by me! Yea of course, use it in your trail :)

I've been playing WoW on and off for a while now, after some serious raiding times back in TBC and WotLK. It's easier to stay away from it now, though it is still such an awesome game when I do play. There is just so much to do! I really enjoyed playing Legion for a while.

The other Blizzard games though, I have never played. Sure, I played Hearthstone for a while, but that's about it. I am curious to see what else they can bring us, besides their current titles.

Same here regarding the Legion point, i liked it to, but nothing can compare to vanilla-wow. Oh the glory of the raiding times in TBC... Sitting for hours with dozens of random other people around the world to take down massive mythological monster bosses and get that epic loot to complete the tier set!!! God damn it i need a time machine...

Aww I'm sad I missed those times! I only joined in TBC, which is where I started pretty hardcore raiding to climb up to one of the server's best guilds. In WotLK I switched over to horde though and joined a guild filled with awesome people, so I had my best raiding times during that particular expansion. After that, I simply didn't have the time for serious raiding anymore, so the game slowly died out for me.

Aren't there some vanilla illegal servers out there for those that miss the glory days?

Look at my account you will like it, I have game drawings, give me your opinion https://steemit.com/money/@orlanperzy/dota2-who-is-this-character-or-or-quien-es-este-personaje

I hope someday to return to the glorious WoW I met. And leave my life in the game.

Haha yea exactly, I'm not playing right know but it's like a on and off kind of thing for me! Legion did gave me some hope again thou, but it didn't suck me in the same way that WoW did when first launched, that feeling was just... unexplainable. Thanks for reading and commenting=)

I have played the versions, The Burning Crusade, The Lich King and Mists of Pandaria.
I hope someday to return to his glory. A pleasure and greetings.
