StartCraft! A name which would have dominated the ESports industry many years ago, a name we all know and love. For some it still holds a special place in our hearts, a game which helped Blizzard set their name in stone as true game developers!
As time went on and gamer's started to move onto newer ventures, such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive, League Of Legends and Dota 2, the StarCraft franchise felt like it was left behind. We were blessed by StarCraft 2 which i can say i played many an hour with my friends, but nothing compares to the original.
But today i am happy to announce that we are in for a treat, the great minds over at Blizzard have decided to finally announce the release date for the StarCraft Remastered edition. So what does the remastered version include?
- A Full 4K graphical upgrade of the base game and also the Brood War's Expansion.
- New matchmaking and leaderboards.
- Greatly improved audio.
- The ability to save to the cloud (thank God).
- Widescreen support with support up to new 4K resolutions.
- Player Profiles, yes it is time to determine who is best out of all your friends.
- Much More.
But do you own the old edition? You don't want to buy the remastered version? Well the good news is that they will be making both versions compatible!
The StarCraft Remastered version will be available on the 14th August for $14.99 (not bad). I really do hope that this will bring more people back to StarCraft, we have so much to thank for this game in the world of ESports and Blizzard fans as a whole.
Let me know what you guys think, will you pick this up? Is this just a ploy for more money? Or do we trust that Blizzard will stick to their roots and give us what we have been asking for many years.
