How I went about including fantasy versions of the cast of It's Always Sunny in Philadephia into a Pathfinder Adventure.

The Kingmaker adventure is a long sandbox style campaign where the players have to explore a wilderness and then build a city.

At some point during the adventure, a not so uncommon random magic item roll was called for.

The item: The Cloak of The Scuttling Rat.

One of the characters wanted to know if they could use an appraise check to see who created the item. Normally this would have been impossible, but the player rolled a 20, so I needed to ask myself: Who did craft The Cloak of The Scuttling Rat?

Obviously, it was the little-known wizard Charles Day of course!

The party had no idea who that was, nor should they have. The fact is, after that moment, my goal was to slow drip The Gang into the campaign hoping the players would one day figure it out one day.

Since we were playing the Kingmaker Adventure Path, the PCs would have to build a kingdom from scratch. As the population grew new businesses would pop up in the burgeoning town. Patrick's Pub would soon become a local establishment.

Charles Day could be found hidden away in the basement creating rat related magic items, studying manuals on Avian Law, and stalking a local waitress.

The barmaid, Deandra, would tell unfunny jokes and was desperate to be famous. She would be willing to kill the rest of the bar staff for a chance at fame and gag when speaking with the male, high charisma characters.

Macdonald was a firm believer in Erastil, yet he seemed to have no knowledge of the faith and broke nearly all the tenants of the religion. He was a half-elf who hated elves and denied his elven heritage, often citing Erastilian tenants (that could be found nowhere) in an attempt to justify his hatred.

The mysterious murders happening in the city - which were never discovered - were obviously committed by the Tiefling bartender, Den'iz.

Finally, the owner was a DeVitian (custom race: a kind of 4' tall troll) named Francis who financed a number of schemes in the city and also had late night gambling in the basement of the bar. He once owned a sweatshop in Quan.

Anyone who went to the bar and developed a relationship with one of the five characters would inevitably have their life ruined.

Sadly, the bar never played enough of a role in the adventure, but I was glad that I'd mapped it out.

Used to watch that show all the time, crazy how it just keeps going. I'm sure it was fun turning them into fantasy characters! Will follow your crazy antics, hopefully you'll do the same. :)

Thanks! I don't think it will ever end.
