With the AMD Ryzen Threadripper launch fast approaching, motherboard manufacturers have started to ship out their products to media for testing. One specific sample from ASUS has just been unboxed in China and showcases their flagship ROG Zenith Extreme X399 motherboard

ASUS ROG Zenith Extreme X399 Motherboard For AMD Ryzen Threadripper CPUs Unboxed
The pictures come straight from Chiphell (via Videocardz) and show the X399 motherboard along with a Ryzen Threadripper CPU hidden beneath the accessories. The motherboard was last seen at Computex 2017 and while there are no additional details provided by the unboxer, we can expect ASUS to detail this motherboard in the coming week at AMD’s “Meet The Experts” webinar which is supposed to be held on 25th of July.

ASUS ROG X399 Zenith Extreme Motherboard
The ASUS ROG X399 Zenith Extreme aims to be ASUS’s flagship AMD offering. The motherboard has the massive SP3 socket which is also known as TR4. It features 4094 pins and houses AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper processors with up to 16 cores and 32 threads. Power is provided through a dual 8 pin connector configuration along with a 24 pin ATX connector. There are a total of eight DDR4 DIMM slots on the board along with a fifth DIMM.2 slot which can support up to two NVMe M.2 drives.
xpansion slots include four PCIe 3.0 x16, a single PCIe 3.0 x4 and a single PCIe 3.0 x1 slot. The M.2 ports as detailed are only available through the DIMM.2 riser card. Moving on to storage, we are looking at 6 SATA III ports, a single U.2 port, dual USB 3.0 front panel headers and an internal USB 2.0 port. The motherboard fully supports ASUS AURA Sync lighting technology and includes the latest SupremeFX audio system on board the PCB. ROG Zenith Extreme also features a small LED on the I/O cover which will display several aspects of the motherboard such as clock speeds, CPU voltage, temps and even custom messages like the ASUS PRIME X299 Deluxe.
The motherboard is loaded with accessories that include a LAN card, ROG DIMM.2 card, GPU hold bracket, 3-Way SLI bridge, 2-Way High-Bandwidth SLI bridge, several SATA cables, thermistors, Wi-Fi antennas, etc.
