Well, basically one of the strongest strategies to sell good in these days (or at least a decent amount) is selling nostalgia, and the veteran companies knows about that than anyone else. We see remasters of videogames of past generations, classic consoles in miniature, and comebacks of beloved videogame characters… or something like that. The last year the gaming community was surprised about the return of Bubsy, the character that no one asked for a comeback. As a result, the return was a game that passed without grief or glory.
Well after one year (more or less), the Accolade YouTube channel posted a few days ago a trailer about the next Bubsy’s adventure: Bubsy – Paws on Fire. Well… I assume that the previous game was successfully enough to make another sequel.
However, this time the game caught my attention: the game looks… decent. Well at least, they made a good trailer or they are doing their best. They learned about the errors of the previous game: no excessive amounts of yarn, the gameplay looks interesting, and they diversified the dynamics.
Not only that but also, you will be able to control another characters instead of Bubsy: you will control characters from Bubsy 2 and some from the disastrous TV series (considered being one of the worst animated series) which only had one episode (the pilot).
Let’s see how this thing ends up. The game looks a little promising but always keep your expectations low and let's hope that Accolade don't spoil it again. Like Bubsy said: “What could possibly go wrong?”
I have so little care for Bubsy I honestly forgot there even was a reboot a while ago.
The choice to bring this franchise back just baffles me. Even if they did have a good game to back it up, what good is attaching the Bubsy name going to do it?
