Howdy Ho everybody! Today we bring you our top five favourite easter eggs in games that we've played. For the list we've gone for the Easter eggs that made us laugh the most or we simply found the most interesting. There's hundreds of other Easter eggs out there but we cant remember them all at this moment, maybe we'll make another blog on this in the future when we can remember. But for now, heres the five that stood out to us the most. Please let us know in the comments if there are any funny or interesting game easter eggs that you can think of. We'd love to check them out and they might even be better than these on the list.

Lets get started then:

For our first Easter egg, we travel to Bethesda's fantasy realm of Tamriel to the province of Skyrim. After hours of exploring the beautifully expansive Nordic land and getting sidetracked around every corner, you will eventually find yourself traversing the largest mountain in Tamriel- The Throat of the World.
Having climbed a mountain in real life, I have no idea how the Dragonborn managed to climb and 'jump' his way the bulk of mountain with such ease but hey ho, he's the Dovahkiin, he does what he wants.

Jinkies that's one hell of a climb.

After the main storyline takes you close to the top of the mountain, you're just a small repetitive button mash away from jumping to the summit. There you will find a special pick-axe named 'Notched Pickaxe'. Anyone who's played Skyrim will surely have seen this pick-axe before but its worth a shout out because of its double enchantment and shout out to Minecraft's creator 'Notch'. The pick-axe even raise your smithing level, what more could you ask for when crafting? Ay?

A pretty sweet pick-axe.

Now we take ourselves over to Bungie's Sci-Fi World of Halo to the events that took place during the third instalment of the trilogy. There are plenty of humorous and interesting Easter eggs in Halo games such as the monkey family but this spot goes to the arguing marines. During the Second Mission, named Crow's Nest, you find yourself helping with evacuation procedures but if you happen to take a wrong turn, you will bump into a marine having an argument with another soldier who is hidden behind a locked door. Marine 1 is demanding access to the ammo supplies within whereas marine 2 refuses him access on the grounds that he cannot remember the password.

Furthermore, if you're a fan of the popular Youtuber group 'Rooster Teeth', you will have noticed that they lended their voices to these scenes which adds to the hilarity. It's like a mini episode of Red vs Blue within the game, such a treat.
Depending on the difficulty you play on, the scene will play out differently. My personal favourite is the heroic version as marine 1 (Simmons) explains how you (Masterchief) are also waiting to get inside but then marine 2 (Grif) just ignores the urgency of the situation and asks if you know the password instead.

On to the Borderland's 2 Planet of Pandora, when you find a break from running over Bullymongs for the fun of it, you can find another Easter egg to minecraft. It's amazing how many games did cross game references back in those days. It makes us nostalgic of these great games and when we'd come in from school to play them for hours on end back in 2011. Seems like ages ago now.

Anyway, there's a small cave you can find in the Caustic Caverns where the entrance is marked by the instantly familiar cube blocks native to the Minecraft world. After breaking a few of them away with your bare fists, naturally, it reveals the large cave containing the infamous Creeper inhabitants. It's always funny to see something that doesn't belong in the game your playing so that's why it makes our list tody. Don't get comfortable by them though because they also share the characteristics of Minecraft's Creepers too, such as exploding, like an asshole.
Only this time you have the advantage of using glorious guns on them! After finally getting even with the explosive bastards by using your favourite gun on them, you get the chance for the drop of a precious Minecraft character skin. Why wouldn't you want to run around the game with a cube head?

list (5).jpg

Off we go to the mean streets of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto world where we jump right into easter egg during the first mission or prologue if you like. We're aware that there are quite a few GTA V Easter eggs out there and even more in Rockstar games in general, like Red Dead Redemption's Big Foot but for this spot on the list, we're giving it to the alien found under a frozen river during your getaway drive.

Spooky.

Though the alien appears to be quite dead, we can't deny its resemblance to the Xenomorph aliens from the Alien film series. I'd say that's a cool shout out to one of the scariest aliens ever imagined.
The alien deserves this spot on our list because it's one of the much easier Easter eggs to miss in the game due to the rush the mission puts you in and it's also the first easter egg to find, so early on in the game as well. Just a simple diversion off the given track towards the bridge in the distance and you too can see the marvellous frozen alien with your own eyes.

Finally we come to second game in the widely successful Witcher series to the Kingdom of Temeria. During one of the missions in the Prologue of the game, you are required to arm a ballista to destroy a barricade but instead you're NOT going to do that (like every Easter Egg hunter does) and instead go past the ballista where you will eventually find a few piles of hay set to the side accompanied by a dead man donning familiar white robes.

dead assassin.png

This is of course a reference to the assassins that can be found in Ubisoft's Assassins Creed. The fact that it points out the folly of someone jumping from a high height into a pile of hay and expecting to walk away unharmed makes the joke that bit more funny. I mean, it's not realistic is it? To jump in a pile of hay from the top of a church hoping for it to break your fall? Well there IS one way to find out but we aren't going to recommend it.

After Geralt pokes a remark at the body about how 'they'll never learn', you're treated to a wee new ability called assassin. Fitting, isn't it? Given the Easter egg.

Well that just about wraps it up for today's blog. We hope you enjoy the read and maybe we even surprised you with one of these sweet Easter eggs.
