Few games have the ability to show us a concept of an original world and characters full of charisma like this, a game that looked graphically quite good by the standards of that time, even being one of the best games with the best graphics on the PlayStation 1, but in turn is a game that in my opinion is quite undervalued.
We are in a world totally full of the weirdest and at the same time fantastic creatures that we can imagine.
In Oddworld as I said before, there are a lot of very rare creatures of different types and among that great group of creatures are the Mundokons. The Mudokons are thin and not very intelligent creatures who work as slaves in factories that have been installed around OddWorld, many of these factories are responsible for grinding meat to sell and distribute it around the world, the owners of these factories are the Glukkons, another type of creatures that owing to having more intelligence than the Mundokons, have enslaved them to work and comply with their jobs.
For a long time the Glukkons have been in charge of eliminating a large part of the species found in that world, little by little they are running out of meat to sell, therefore sales and production have dropped and it is a situation that this species does not like. Here is when our main protagonist, Abe, enters the scene, he is a Mudokons and like others of his kind, he lacks great intelligence, so when Abe was cleaning the floor near his boss's office, he casually hears several Glukkons, and they are talking about the problem of the production of meat, but suddenly and with pure coldness, one of them presents a solution to this problem, a solution that will have as involved the poor Mudokons (at this point, we know what the solution is).
It turns out that the plan is to use them as raw material to return to the production and sale of meat, our protagonist Abe listens to this plan and is alarmed at such news, so he runs to warn his colleagues, but he is discovered before he can do it, now he must flee to save his companions and himself from the end they have prepared for them, therefore we will live a lot of adventures next to our protagonist, to fulfill the mission of saving the Mudokons.
One of the first aspects that we can see when playing this game is that they present us with a totally spectacular cinematic, full of graphics that for the time were something to admire.
The scenarios of this game are drawn in such a way that even today and to be a game of the year 1997 it looks pretty good, although it has been almost 20 years, in the scenarios we can find a lot of details to visualize, where the modeling of funds stands out in great quantity and also has a great variety of scenarios where they mostly recreate the Steampunk style, but maintaining a dark tonality, an aspect that gives personality and a spark of life to the world where we move.
As the scenarios, the design of the characters have a good quality, they present 2D designs and not the characteristic 3Dwith polygons that so characterized the PlayStation 1, however this game is a graphic marvel, as well as before mentioned, the characters also have a variety of animations and movements characteristic of each species that is living in Oddworld.
Graphically speaking, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is one of the best games we can find in the great catalog of games that the beloved PlayStation 1 left us, with spectacular graphics that knew how to take the limit to the old Sony console.
Both the sound effects and the soundtrack of this game stand out a lot, with respect to the soundtrack, it has melodies that accompany and fit perfectly to each stage where we have the opportunity to go, it has melodies that mostly serve as ambience each level, with soft tones in some cases, which helps a greater immersion into the world that wants to present us this game. The sound effects is also a very well achieved aspect, as well as the voices of the characters, the voice dubbing done in this game is quite well accomplished and worked on.
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is a side scrolling game and platforms, but in turn in a game where we will find a lot of puzzles to solve in the different scenarios that we have the possibility to visit.
As we move through the scenarios in many cases we must think well what action to perform to complete that level or to reach a place where we need to go, throughout the game, our mission is to rescue as many Mudokons as possible, bearing in mind that some of them we can easily save, others not, because they are in places where we should analyze the scenario and think the best way to reach them, therefore in many cases our mission becomes difficult. Something to highlight this game in terms of its gameplay is that many of the puzzles we can find in Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee were made for all those people who like this type of games, since they are puzzles developed with a lot of wit and sense, But even so, in many of them we must think and use our skills well in order to solve them.
As for the control of the character is quite simple, it is easy to learn everything that is needed to move around the stage, also taking into account the fluidity that the character has to move between the platforms, jumping or running, it is an experience of pretty good game that in many cases will make us remember Prince Of Persia, due to the similarity that can be between the movement and the genre to which this great game belongs.
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is an excellent game and one of the best we can find on the PlayStation 1, a classic of the world of video games, with totally original designs and excellent graphics, also with a quite addictive game style and that will make us think of many times to be able to complete some of the many levels that this wonderful game has to offer us.
I thank @triverse for reminding me of this excellent game.
This is a wonderful classic. So imaginative, I still remember how I felt watching the intro cutscene the first times. Never finished this game, but I have the remaster on ps4, aside from some sound glitches, it's pretty well done.

The old days were the best, especially with video games. I was also impressed at the time with its cinematic.
