Gaming Culture: Where does Civilization need to go from here?

Where does Civilization need to go from here? - Have you ever felt that the Civilization series has hit a wall that it just can’t seem to get past? It’s still stuck with old idea, old concepts, old technology and hasn’t really innovated that much. Civilization 6 had some promise to it, but after a few hours the charm of the districts and peaceable wonders does dwindle in the face of everything else. So where do we go from here? What does Civilization need?

I haven't played civ6 but loved multiplayer and mods on civ5, however it didn't compare to civ4 and civ3 (my favourite). Same thing as with elder scrolls- by making the games simpler and easier to play, they've taken a lot of the fun out of them for people who like the complexity. I haven't played a Total War game since Medieval 2, except for an hour of Rome 2, and was really disappointed by the latter. I don't even want to play any Total Wars in case of disappointment.

I still find this game very interesting, but yeah I totally agree with you, they are totally stuck. With each iteration of the game they are only improving the entire game. Other than that, that's it. Nothing new :(
