In the last 20 years videogames have changed drastically in many aspects, both in their gameplay, music and the one that attracts most attention to all, the graphics, despite this there are things that only old school gamers remember as if it were yesterday, today we will travel to the past to remember some of them.
Many of the current consoles and even the world of the pc have something that to many seems tedious to us, the updates, before this did not exist, we simply placed the game and ready, the only disadvantage that had this was that if we detected some error in the game it would stay with this for eternity.
For this, companies like Nintendo had a seal of quality, which consisted of a thorough review of all the programmed content of it, in short, it was a filter so that the video game market was not filled with garbage, history that happened to Atari 2600.
If you are a gamer of the new generation of sure save your advances in the internal hard drive of your console, where you will have available a huge amount of space to save everything you want, this was not always the case, the first console to implement a saving system for games was the Famicom Disk System.
But this was only available in Japan, for occident they incorporated inside the cartridges a battery which allowed to keep in a small memory our game. Later in the fifth generation of consoles would come the famous Memory Cards, these had a very limited space to save our advances, so we had to manage our games.
If by chance we didn't have more space there were two options, or you bought a new Memory Card or simply deleted some of your games where you surely had 100% of some game, a tough decision right? But the worst thing that could happen was that your memory would be damaged, totally erasing your advances, this is just something that an old school player would understand.
Currently any game console control vibrates, simulating many movements of what we see on screen, but this function did not exist before, the first console that incorporated this functionality to its controls was the Nintendo 64, you had to buy an additional accessory called Rumble pack which used an AAA battery.
Later the PlayStation would take out one of the most acclaimed controls, the Dual Shock, this had two internal motors that worked without the need of a battery, becoming the model to follow for future companies.
Surely when you buy a video game for your console install it on the internal hard drive or simply download it to play it, almost never use the physical disk, only to start the game, before it was impossible to do this, we were obliged or put the cartridge in the console, but if this did not work, what did we do?
A legendary technique was applied, blowing the cartridge in its lower part, it was simply magical, make it work properly the game, however, this is something that was not necessary, just clean a little tracks with a small swab was enough. Other people did something more aggressive, put the cartridge in the freezer for about 10 minutes to make it work.
If you think that these are all the things that used to exist in the world of videogames you're wrong, there are other curiosities that I'm sure you'll love, however, we'll leave them for a next time.

The PS1 memory card screen just hit me right in the nostalgia. I can't imagine myself feeling the same way about my PS4 or Xbox One 15 years from now.
