This week Treyarch is set to release the multiplayer beta for the next Call of Duty, Black Ops 4. This first weekend it will be a Playstation exclusive due to last from August 3rd until the 6th.
There will be a second chance to play the following weekend from August 10th until the 13th. It will also be available for both Playstation and Xbox that weekend. They are currently advertising it as a private beta only for those who preordered but in previous years, they would open up the beta during the second weekend.
The beta will only include multiplayer so the new Battle Royale game mode will not be present although they say there will be a separate beta for that in September. From previous beta experiences in Call of Duty, I would expect for the multiplayer to be limited to a handful of maps, weapons, and characters which will be expanded as the beta progresses.
It is not the full experience but it has provided a good idea of the mechanics of the new game before launch. I normally use it to compare to what previous games in feels like in order to practice with that fame until launch. As I have said in previous posts, I haven’t been as engaged with Call of Duty the last couple of years but given that Treyarch developed this game, I am given it a chance with my preorder.
Fingers-crossed as I hope this will bring the franchise back to its glory!
Thanks!
