Season 1 for Apex Legends is finally live with players being able to dive into some of the game's brand new content. Alongside the release of the long awaited Battle Pass, this latest patch has introduced the game's first new character since its February launch: Octane.
Trampolining to Victory
Octavio 'Octane' Silva introduces a new launch pad ability to the game, offering a new way to get airborne and vertically traverse the map or even sneak in a nice trick shot. Some players may have already seen a few of Octane's pads scattered around the Market in the game this week -- I had the pleasure of being launched into a rock, head first, in my first encounter. But what else does this new Legend bring to the game? Well, other than having a daredevil and thrill seeker attitude, Octane utilities a tactical ability called 'Stim' that allows him to move 30% faster for six seconds but he must sacrifice 20% of his health in the process. His passive tries to compensate for this by healing him over time but only when he's not being shot at.
Octane is ready to play now and the Season 1 Battle Pass is not necessary to unlock him. Similar to Mirage and Caustic, Octane can be purchased with 750 Apex Coins or 12,000 Legends Tokens.
Wild Frontier Battle Pass Season 1
As the first of four Battle Passes set to be released this year, the Wild Frontier Battle Pass brings new Legend and weapon skins as a part of over 100 Season 1 rewards. These also include a number of new stat trackers, quips, banners, and extra apex packs.
Unlocking the pass fro 950 Apex Coins will give players instant access to the new Wild Frontier skins set for Mirage, Wraith and Pathfinder and others rewards are earned through leveling up with the pass. Dropping 2,800 Apex Coins gives players access to the Battle Pass Bundle which includes the original Battle Pass and unlocks the next 25 levels for Season 1 immediately.
Those who reach level 100 during Season 1 will gain the new legendary Havoc skin: Silver Storm and if you reach 110 you can also unlock the Golden Idol Havoc skin. From what we have been shown so far, these guns are expected to have some great visual effects -- with FIRE -- as you obtain kills
- Level One = 1 Kill
- Level Two = 3 Kills
- Level Three = 5 kills
However, for those who don't want to drop money on a Battle Pass you can still receive one of the new Wild Frontier skins for free, along with five Apex Packs and 18 of the Wild Frontier stat trackers as you play.
