MC Esports will be at the QUT Esports Centre on Saturday April 13th 2019 to host a CS:GO LAN. This will be a mixed amateur and pro event with a $700 prize pool. A fraction of the prize money will be donated to a charity of the winners' choice.
MC Esports is a grass roots organisation which hosted its first CS:GO LAN in Sydney on February 2019. This weekend, MC Esports is giving the Brisbane CS:GO community an opportunity to meet up, network and showcase their skills. Non-competitors are also welcome to attend at no cost and socialise. If you are unable to attend but still want to be a part of this event, you can follow the action via the MC Esports Twitch Channel.
The company has plans to host more events across the country to promote each location's local video game community. For more information about MC Esportss vision, watch our interview with Co-Founder Jaime Lea Bodecker below.
MC Esports also runs the To MC and Beyond campaign which is about promoting mental health and well being. This is partially why they run LANs instead of remote competitions. The MC Esports staff are all on hand to discuss mental health and well being with LAN attendees. Given the company's focus on mental health, it is fitting that they're hosting this LAN at the QUT Esports Arena.
The Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is the first Australian University to recognise Esports as a sport, and is a leader in Esports research. QUT even has a facility (the Games Research and Interaction Design Lab) dedicated to studying all aspects of video games and their impact on society. One of the topics of research at this facility is the impact of gaming on well being. As such, the QUT Esports Arena is an ideal location for an Esports event which also promotes well being and community engagement.
