Nintendo is adding another game to their mobile gaming catalogue after it was announced that the company will be releasing Dr. Mario World for iOS and Android.
Nintendo hasn't released any specifics on gameplay, but have stated that the app will be a free-to-download action puzzle game that will include optional in-app purchases, similar to Nintendo's other mobile properties.
Dr. Mario World is being co-developed by Nintendo and Japanese messaging app LINE and is currently scheduled for a global release in early Winter 2019.
Super Mario Run was the first time Nintendo dabbled into mobile gaming and since then, the company has released spin-offs from some of its other well known properties like: Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
Nintendo also has another Mario mobile game in the works called Mario Kart Tour, but it was recently revealed that the company would be delaying the title, "in order to improve quality of the application and expand the content offerings after launch." Mario Kart Tour is also scheduled for a Winter 2019 release according to Nintendo.
What will Dr. Mario World look like?
Well, if we look at the previous iterations in the franchise, Dr.Mario is likely to be suitable for mobile thanks to its puzzle-focused mechanics.
The game features Tetris-style gameplay which uses coloured capsules to destroy viruses before they fill up a pill bottle. So if we look at the success of other puzzle gaming apps, like Bejeweled and Candy Crush Saga, Dr. Mario World just might be the next big mobile gaming hit.
Dr. Mario World is set to be available in 60 regions when it initially releases and it will also be available in multiple languages, including English and Japanese.
