Original Professor Layton Ported to Switch?

in gaming •  6 years ago

The Professor Layton Series is a puzzle point & click adventure type game that mixes light visual novel elements with brain-scratching puzzles for you to figure out to solve the greater mystery. Very recently, localization company, G4F have updated their site to include a localization listing Professor Layton and the Curious Village for the Nintendo Switch to include new translations for the game in French by G4F and additional localizations in Italian, German and Spanish by Native Prime. This is a big breath of fresh air for Layton fans if we're lucky enough for this to go through without a hitch as we may be soon able to play Layton, once again, on the go - and for the first time in the West on the big screen.

I'm almost not surprised since Level-5 are known for their amazing art styles in their games, which are only emphasized when put on a HD Console for the big screen - not to mention the most recent Layton game (following the story of Lady Layton) Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy was for some reason only released on 3DS here, despite having a Nintendo Switch port exclusive to Japan. That however, might not be the case for long, as G4F also have a localization listing for Nintendo Switch up on their website as well. I, personally, have been trying to track down all of the original Layton games after absolutely adoring Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure, a puzzle game mixed with rhythm elements by SEGA, (two of my favorite genres, Puzzle and Rhythm) that's said to be a lot like the Layton Series - it's a wonder why I never jumped into Layton earlier - either way, this might just be the chance to jump properly into the Layton series since I've only dabbled by watching the full feature movie, Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva. Either way it turns out, Professor Layton will be a legacy series for time to come - though I am hopeful and rather confident we'll see ports of the game on the Switch, only time will truly tell.
