Shenmue 3 had been in development for 3 years since June of 2015 and had finally reached a whopping $US 7 million for the project. The last Shenmue game to appear was on 2010 and it is finally looking like the third main instalment will make an appearance, better than ever.

Shenmue follows Ryo Hazuki in various journeys in the past iterations of the game. In Shenmue 3, it will follow him and Shenhua. It was announced that it would not be the conclusion to the series as creator Yu Suzuki had stated that the game will have an open ending for a sequel.

Ryo is your typical protagonist who had skills in martial arts, however, things get a little crazy when magical mirrors start becoming one of the centrepieces of the whole story. He meets various characters along the way as his investigations had taken him to places like Hong Kong and Guiling.

Now that the game had been funded to this point, a new system had been added to the gameplay. The Battle System now has AI battling which would,"This control system lets you automatically unleash the perfect technique in response to the opponent's positioning and distance."

Along with the battle system, a toy capsule box set is now made available through Fangamer that is worth $US 450. It includes your typical gaming swag such as miniature figures, concept art books and t-shirts.

On top of that, a backer survey had been introduced to help the developers seek what players really want out of Shenmue 3. Each backer will have until September 2018 to fill out and/or revise their survey submission. It is noted the developers have set criteria for the answers that if it does not fit within their vision or is deemed inappropriate, it may be subjected to rejection or being edited.

Finally, they also announced that they will put name credits to the game for backers so long as it isn't offensive in any way. They also announced various details such as PC hardware and their licensing terms.

With the game upping its combat system after years since the last instalment, Yu Suzuki and his team will have a huge challenge to show players that Shenmue as a series can age as well as Pokemon. However, with their constant updates on their development, it is looking that Shenmue 3 is going to be a serious contender for a top video game for the PS4 and PC.
