Games that missed the mark in 2018
Gamers Classified recently covered some of the best games of 2018. However, not every game impressed us in 2018 as we look over some of the games that missed the mark. From poor production to blatant disappointments, here are some of the games that we wouldn't recommend from 2018.
Fallout 76
Bet you saw this one coming. With Fallout 4 only being released in 2015, it seems that Bethesda could have used a bit more time to perfect their next instalment of the post- apocalyptic survival game series. Considering Fallout 4 suffered from mediocre gameplay itself, Fallout 76 had a lot to prove. Unfortunately, bugs, glitches and poor gameplay again proved to be a let-down for a Bethesda game. Bethesda has blessed us with some great titles, but Fallout 76 is not one of them.
Agony
Agony tried very hard to be something, but unfortunately didn't seem to know what it wanted to be. Madmind Studios clearly had a vision in mind, the game failed due to frustrating mechanics and bugs that often severely impacted gameplay. The game had some interesting imagery, but a game is only ever as good as it is playable, and that was a key downfall for Agony. With this game seemingly wanting to focus on visuals while trying to be something of a stealth adventure, Agony fell flat.
The Inpatient
Until Dawn was great for so many reasons. The cinematic, cliche-ridden horror game about teenagers in an isolated cabin was a true experience and one that doesn't come around very often in the gaming community. When The Inpatient was announced as a prequel to Until Dawn, many were keen to get their hands on the VR-exclusive. Unfortunately, running only three-hours in length and with little gameplay, it didn't meet expectations. While this definitely isn't the worst game on the list, it was a definite disappoint.
Metal Gear Survive
Much like Fallout 76, there aren't many kind comments to be said about Metal Gear Survive. Despite a few fun moments, the game was overall a dull experience and considered to be a massive let-down for the franchise. But overall, it was the excessive use of micro-transactions that really turned fans of the franchise away.
Far Cry 5
This might be an unpopular opinion, but Far Cry 5 really wasted a great opportunity. Despite some great moments and some improvements to gameplay, missions were boring and often barely connected to the overarching story. There is plenty to do in the game to keep players entertained, but with little sense of accomplishment and a skeleton for a story, Far Cry 5 just didn't stand out as much as it could have.
Overall, 2018 wasn't a bad year for gaming, but if one game had to take out the title of the 'worst of the year', nearly all gamers are happy to agree on Fallout 76 taking out the title. As with any year, some games are bound to miss the mark, but hopefully in 2019 we won't be seeing this level of disappointment again from AAA titles.
man agony actually looks really good.
but maybe that's all it is ㅇ_ㅇ

It took awhile to come out and I suspect that so much hype caused unreasonable expectation. At the end of the day, it was mechanically busted haha.
