Introduction

Hey guys, it's me ggteixeira and for today's post we'll be checking out one of my favorite League of Legends jungle champions, Kha'Zix. Surviving the early game, eating through the mid game and dominating the late game, Kha'Zix reigns over the rift's jungles as one of the uncontested current best jungler assassins. For this post we'll be checking out his lore, abilities, some techniques/strategies when playing Kha'Zix and finally wrapping it all up with my opinion on the champ. I hope you guys enjoy!

I know some of you probably already know what League of Legends but I'm certain there are tons of others out there who don't. For all of you who don't, I'll be giving a brief description on the game itself below. If you do know what League is feel free to skip ahead down below straight to the character's lore. Also, If you feel like I've left some questions about the game unanswered, feel free to ask below and I'll answer as soon as possible.

So what is League of Legends?

"League of Legends (abbreviated LoL) is a multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows and macOS. The game follows a freemium model and is supported by microtransactions, and was inspired by the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne mod, Defense of the Ancients." A perfect description of the game which I borrowed from it's own wiki page.

I'd also like to add on that League of Legends is considered a MOBA game. What does this mean? Well, it means that it's a mix between RPG and RTS genre games where you select a champion from a large pool on heroes to play controlling them as you do battle on whichever map and game-mode you pick. League has a variety of different maps and game modes, but the single most popular is it's standard 5v5 on Summoner's Rift where the objective is to through whatever means get through the enemies' defenses and destroy their nexus (base) whilst also trying to protect your own. One reason why this game-mode is so popular is because of it's only use in the League of Legends large pro competitive scene.

Before continuing on to the post itself I'd like to go ahead and state that if you guys have any further questions about League feel free to ask below, I'll make sure to reply as soon as possible.

Now, onto Kha'Zix's story;

Kha'Zix, the Voidreaver, is an alpha predator who slipped through the Void and into Valoran, the supercontinent of Runeterra. Killing, consuming and evolving, the only three things Kha'Zix knows.

How Kha'Zix got into Runeterra still to this day remains a mystery to others. Only one thing about Kha'Zix is certain, that he came from the Void. The Void is a dark and evil place shrouded in mystery. Little is known about it and the only way to get to it is through randomly opening portals that are both rare and only temporary. Anyone whose ever entered one has never come out and whenever something does come out of one, it is the furthest thing imaginable from human.

One of these such things that slipped through the Void and into Runeterra is Kha'Zix, a strange purple praying-mantis like creature that at first to others appeared small, weak and frail. Because of this, he was disregarded and left to do the only thing he knew and the one thing he did best; hunt. Kha'Zix started by killing smaller prey, consuming them afterwards and gaining a bit more strength after each meal. Eventually, as he gained strength he'd move onto bigger prey, killing and eating them before repeating the endless cycle process from before. Soon, Kha'Zix would evolve to become an almost perfect killer wrecking havoc across Runeterra and bringing regret to all those who thought nothing of him before.

Kha'Zix continued on his slaughter ravaging town after town, killing and eating anything in his path. No one could match his strength or power and each who tried would only fall, be devoured, and in the end make the monster they tried to kill only stronger. One day though, after feasting on a fresh kill, Kha'Zix would finally meet his match against a foe seemingly of equal strength and skill as him.

The beast Rengar, a skilled and proud head-hunter had been tracking Kha'Zix for days. Finally having found him, he ambushed the beast hoping to slay him and take his head as a prize for his collection. He would conclude unsuccessful though after a long drawn out fight shared between the two. Neither one had once met an equal match and both being forced to retreat was a foreign concept each was unfamiliar and uncomfortable with.

Kha'Zix barely getting out with his life was shocked and thrilled at the same time. After regenerating, the monster salivated at the imagining of consuming a foe as strong as him finally turning Kha'Zix into the perfect killer. And with this hope planted in Kha'Zix's mind, he vowed to himself that one day; he would feast on Rengar.

Kha'Zix In-Game

Kha'Zix in game is classified as a jungler attack-damage assassin. This means his role is to farm off the jungle, roam and ambush enemy lanes securing either kills for himself or his team to get ahead. With a kit based around engaging, killing, and either engaging again or disengaging, Kha'Zix is great for picking out high-priority targets taking them out in seconds before they can cause any real damage for the team. With his low-time high damage output, Kha'Zix is arguably one of League's perfect hunters.

Unseen threat

Kha'Zix's passive ability, 'Unseen Threat,' makes it so whenever Kha'Zix is not visible by the enemy team, his next basic attack against enemy champions deals extra damage before slowing them for a short duration. The passive ability is what makes Kha'Zix such a great jungle assassin making it so whenever he randomly decides to pop into a lane against an unsuspecting champion, he'll have the edge allowing him to take them out before they have time to react. Kha'Zix also does more damage to isolated targets who are out by themselves.

This ability if used wisely can make Kha'Zix a real hard hitter. Paired with a dusk blade, a good Kha'Zix will easily chunk enemies in single basic attacks if they position themselves out of a sight before closing into attack. Another neat trick I found for extra damage output is using bushes to quickly hide from the enemy, resetting his passive allowing him to do extra damage again in a short period of time, especially if they are by themselves.

Taste their Fear

Kha'Zix's first ability, his Q, is 'Taste their Fear.' This ability is an activation ability which when clicked on a target makes Kha'Zix tear into his enemy dealing a good portion of damage. After the ability, Kha'Zix gains extra range on his next basic attack. If the target is isolated, 'Taste their Fear' does extra damage and has it's cool-down lowered so it can be used again in a shorter amount of time.

This ability is Kha'Zix's main source of damage. It's relatively low cool down and high AD scaling allows Kha'Zix to shred enemies, especially isolated ones in a matter of seconds. A good Kha'Zix will make sure to isolate his opponent before moving in to finish them off with his Q.

Void Spike

Kha'Zix's second ability, his W, is 'Void Spike.' With this ability, Kha'Zix fires out a set of spikes directly in front of him dealing damage, slowing targets and healing if Kha'Zix if he is in the blast radius. Not only is this ability Kha'Zix's main sustain in the jungle, it's also great for ganking enemies slowing them down so Kha'Zix can catch up and get in melee range.

Just like I stated before, this ability's healing properties is Kha'Zix's main source of sustain in the jungle, especially in the early game, so make sure you use it properly for maximum clearage potential. Also keep in mind that this ability is a skill-shot, so when ganking a lane make sure you set yourself up in a proper angle so you can land the shot, but only use it if you have to. It's cool-down is relatively long (roughly 10 seconds give or take).

Leap

Kha'Zix's third ability, his E, is 'Leap.' With this ability, Kha'Zix leaps forward into a designated area dealing damage to anyone nearby. This ability is a great gap closer and Kha'Zix's main way of either engaging, disengaging, or getting away from a bad situation.

A cool thing to keep in mind is that with Kha'Zix's leap you can jump over walls. So if you ever find yourself in a bad position, remember this before you choose where to jump. Good positioning with this can really save your life, or take an enemies'.

Void Assault

Kha'Zix's last ability, his R, is 'Void Assault.' With this ability, Kha'Zix can up to two times go invisible for a short amount of time gaining a speed boost and resetting his passive ability. If used correctly, you can get the jump on people, reposition in a team-fight, get away from a bad situation, or reset your passive ability for maximum damage output.

Another thing Kha'Zix's ultimate does is evolve one of his abilities every time he levels it up. Each ability slightly changes and is upgraded each time it's evolved giving Kha'Zix an edge as the game continues on. Whenever Kha'Zix's Q is upgraded, he deals a significant amount more damage with it. Whenever his W is upgraded, he fires more spikes in a cone in front of him that deal more damage as well. Whenever his E is upgraded, Kha'Zix can leap further and whenever he gets a kill resets the ability's cool-down allowing him to leap again right after. Whenever his R is upgraded, Kha'Zix can go invisible up to three times instead of two and also automatically goes invisible for up to 1.5 seconds whenever he passes through a bush when out of combat.

Be sure you upgrade your abilities wisely depending on the game's scenario.

Now that you know all about Kha'Zix, I hope some of you try him out in the jungle whenever you got the chance. In my opinion, I think he's one of the best assassin junglers. His high-damage abilities and engage allow him to get close and do what he's suppose to do, wipe someone out in seconds. Because of his stacked kit, especially when evolved, Kha'Zix stands out as one of the best assassins especially in comparison to some of the others. Because of this, I definitely recommend picking him up if you're looking to play a more assassin oriented jungle. He's also tons of fun to play.
