Introduction

What's up guys, I'm ggteixeira, a relatively new user to Steemit who loves reading Steemit posts and making his own whenever he finds the time. For today's post I thought I'd share the story of my last night's Mount & Blade: Napoleonic Wars' game.

Before we get started;

I'd like to go ahead and give a quick description of the game Mount & Blade: Napoleonic Wars. Napoleonic Wars is one of the many installments within the Mount & Blade franchise, being set in the obvious Napoleonic era, an era where the 'gentlemen's' warfare tore through most of Europe. The game takes place in an awkward yet fun time period where firearms began to become a common use in military warfare even though close-quarters combat was still a very frequent part of almost every battle.

The Story Itself

The siege had started and I found myself spawning in on one of the fort's walls. I made sure all my gear was in check before running over towards the nearby rooftop where I found a squadron of team members camped out on. Off into the distance I could see the ship our enemies were coming from and the sea's horizon, but nothing else, it was a foggy day.

As I neared the roof, I watched helplessly as at least four loaded enemies popped over the other side of the roof with their rifles raised before gunning down most of my allies on our side of the roof. They quickly ducked their heads down afterwards and retreated back out of sight before I could line up a shot to avenge at least one of my allies.

I crouched down and snuck my way over towards a point in the wall allowing me vantage onto their side of the roof. Some of my allies beside me followed, as he raised our rifles aimed towards the enemies from before, who were busy reloading for another volley. Without hesitation we opened fire, gunning them down without mercy and bayonetting dead anyone who had survived.

I reloaded my musket afterwards, climbed onto the rooftop and glanced down into the courtyard as our gatehouse blew open. The enemy swarmed inside killing anyone they found below with their superior numbers.

I noticed one of the British to my right trying to line up a shot on me, but quickly aimed down, swinging my rifle over and downing him before he could even get off a shot. I fell back out of their line of sight afterwards, readied my weapon's bayonet and continued down the wall towards the flag the enemy was trying to take.

I used the rooftops to cut through a skirmish on the walls ahead but soon found myself stuck between a rock and a hard place.

A British officer was waiting for me, flintlock raised and before I even had the time to blink, he fired. . . The shot just barely missed my head, but I had no time to stop and thank God. I rushed down lunging my weapon forth as I impaled the man on my bayonet, pinning him to the ground and finishing him off with another stab to the chest.

After dealing with him, I started sprinting over towards the flag as some of my allies desperately fought in a melee with the enemy to try and hold the flag. Suddenly as I neared the flag, everything went black as I had found myself shot in the sign of the head by an enemy rifle crouched on a far away wall. And with that, my allies fell, the flag was captured, and the game was lost. . . But it was a good fight.
