[Ggt DTube] Minecraft, PvP Fort Raid

in gaming •  7 years ago  (edited)

Introduction

What's up guys, I'm Ggt and I love video games. I love playing them, reading posts on them and making my own content to share. I've been doing this on mainly Steemit for the past half-year now. If by any chance you find yourself liking gaming-related content, make sure to check out my account @ggteixeira for tons more stuff!

Moving on, today's post will be a DTube video accompanied by a re-telling of an event that happened on the Minecraft RP factions server, 'Lord of the Craft!' More info on both below!

Minecraft

Minecraft is an open world sandbox survival game at it's core, with no real main objective besides defeating an end-game boss, the Ender Dragon. Besides that, Minecraft is all about doing whatever the player wants. Whether that be building elaborate creations with the game's voxel-block mechanics, slaying monsters of the night, exploring the infinitely generated world, farming, mining and so on. The list could go on for a long, long time, and that's not including the game's multiplayer.

Everything I've said about the game up until this point is only the base single-player game. When it comes to Minecraft's multiplayer, the possibilities on what players can do is limitless with it's community. Mods and plugins allow new additions or tweaks to the game's core, creating in a way new games inside of an already great game. Examples include some multiplayer servers turned into addictive mini-games lobbies, with a ton of unique game-modes inside for it's players to play and I've seen other servers turn the game into guild-based war servers, where players team up, build up, and fight over control of the map.

Lord of the craft,

is just one of these many servers. But it's unique and manages to do something I've never seen before playing on it. The server refers to itself as an 'RP/PvP' community, turning Minecraft's core-game into a whole new living and breathing fantasy world using some server-side plugins. Some of these include a persona plugin allowing players to create their own unique characters, custom PvP (Player verse Player) modifications to enhance the gameplay experience, a functioning economy that revolves around the players' professions (Miners, lumberjacks, smiths, enchanters, etc.) and even an on-going story that develops depending on in-game player actions. And that's all just the tip of the iceberg. There's so much more to this server and community, which can be found at their website here.

What I personally find so cool about the server though, is the scale of it all. In-game factions can span anywhere from a few handful of players in a guild to hundreds in a kingdom. I've been in fights with a few dozen players and fights with nearly five-hundred. I found it very hard to find any other game or server, especially on Minecraft, that provides any sort of PvP gameplay on that scale. Trust me when I say that it's such a satisfying feeling playing a part in something of such grand scale, I look at how cool this example is here recorded on the server;

LoTC is really something unique and fun to play on. If you have Minecraft and find yourself bored of it, check out this server. It's not everyone's cup of tea but if it is yours, you'll never taste tea any better!

The raid on the Crossroad's Fort!

16th of the Malin's Welcome, 1650

The Orcs under their new Rex had had enough. The Elven Dominion for too long had oppressed them, killing them for their green hide and stripping them of their hunting grounds. The Orcish nation of Krugmar had sounded out the call to arms, making it's people once more what they were meant to be; warriors!

After rallying a decent force, the Orcish Rex himself (the Orc King) led forth his army north and towards Dominion forests. On the roads he joint forces with a group of human knights from his ally, the Kingdom of Renatus. But this would prove troublesome, as a large and powerful mercenary group, the Reiters, hated Renatus.

Owning a fort right on the path that led to Dominion lands, the Reiters refused allowing the Rex and his allies passage sparking up a new conflict in and of itself. The Rex angered, would not let this new foe stopping him from reaching his old one, so him, his Orcs, and the Knights of Renatus would sally forth raiding the Reiter occupied fort!
