2018 and 2019 seem to be golden age startup years for gamers. Or more accurately - crypto-gaming age startups. I have been writing about The Abyss Platform recently. Their funding now reaches almost $12,000,000. This is very solid number for a starting platform. Valve's Steam was also at its beginnings.

Chimaera is one I discovered a few days ago. I heard about it before, but I didn't deem it so important. I changed my mind. Chimaera will be another stunning project for gamers. Not a platform, but an ecosystem. Read my article to learn why they are determined to succeed!

What They Have In Common

Both projects are going to lend their tokens to games. They will become the game currency and items, cards, training, it all will be paid in the given tokens. Such service will bring a fair environment into the games.

Take card trading and collecting games for example. Cards will be evaluated and sold by players. Some developers don't even make their cards tradable, which is bad. A player wants to be an owner of the card.

The technologies don't guarantee to put an end to pay-to-win mechanism. But they will make it smaller as all cards will be available for all. It won't be necessary to buy dozens of card packs before you get one you want. And this is what card games should be about. Strategy and deck-building, not packs opening.

In this particular area, it will be difficult to shiny so fast. Magic The Gathering Arena and The Artifact are coming this year. But I am sure it won't take long till other devs realize blockchain is future.

Chimaera

Chimaera is aiming for creating a fair environment in games only. It won't be a platform like Steam. Instead, it feels to me as if it was a trading centre and exchange. Not only for players, but for developers as well.

Chimaera platform provides servers on blockchain to developers, for who the prices on the market could be prohibiting. It comes hand in hand with bigger profits and smaller fees for the devs.

There will be a trading centre run by Chimaera. People will be able to trade items from one game for the items from the another. This will motivate people to trade to a great extent as useless items in one game, where they have everything they need, will give them a decent start in the another.

I wouldn't fear low-quality games to be there only. Lower fees and higher profits can both attract any developer, who trusts blockchain. Chimaera is a good partner for everyone.

The Abyss Platform

As I set up the idea before, The Abyss Platform is going to provide similar services to Steam. They already have a launcher prototype, in which you can see the environment. Games will be bought by Abyss tokens. They will also be traded for them.

Not all games will necessarily have to use Abyss tokens in-game. This makes sense for single-player ones.

Five degree referral program will make Abyss more widespread at first. Chimaera has only one degree referral program.

Yet, the services seem to be very similar. So try them out.

Profit Potential

Gaming industry capitalization grows every year steadily by 6.2%. This is a projected growth, which will most likely be true only if no one defected from Steam or other platforms to blockchain. So I think the realistic profit is much higher than that!

Only if you register and play the games, you will get some tokens. Chimaera has proof of work algoritm mining and The Abyss will reward you for achievements and such.

If you asked me which one to invest in, I would say The Abyss Platform. People who are new to blockchain may not trust the technology so much. Blue logo subconsciously evokes trust, whereas red might do the opposite. This is, however, only deciding factor I can state.

Chimaera supports, in my opinion, developers better, while The Abyss seems bigger in all aspects. They raised about 6 times more money for their project. This does not mean that there will be no interest in Chimaera though. Maybe, the tokens can get more valuable over time.

Both are long-term investition paying out early in 2019 or later in time.
