Asus Launches ROG Strix Gaming Laptops For MOBA and FPS Lovers

in gaming •  6 years ago

Asus has unveiled two new gaming laptops, designed for FPS and MOBA gamers.

Asus has announced a couple of new gaming laptops in its ROG series of machines, with two slightly different audiences in mind.
The differences between the new Strix Scar II and Strix Hero II are mostly cosmetic, with the former coming with distinguished WASD keys in a white finish, targeting FPS audiences, with the latter coming with pronounced QWER keys, aimed at MOBA crowds. Another small difference is that the Strix Scar II has a kevlar finish.
The displays are both the same, namely similar 15.6” IPS LCD panels, coming with Full HD resolution, optional 144 Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time and 100% sRGB coverage.

To better handle the increased stress, the new Strix II machines come with 12V fans which can better regulate the air flows in available space. The design also features smaller bezels than before, and the laptops tip the scale at 2.4 kg.

Hardware
Under the hood, you get a choice of latest hexa-core Intel Core i5-8300H or i7-8750H silicon, with up to 32 GB DDR4-2666 memory, and a combination of up to 512 GB SSD or 1 TB HDD/SSHD.

While the MOBA-targeted Strix Hero II comes with only a 6 GB GDDR5 GTX 1060 Max-Q option, the Scar II also comes with optional GTX 1070.

Connectivity and Price
For connectivity, your options include USB-C port, USB 3.1, HDMI, SD reader, mini DisplayPort 1.2, and headphone jack. The audio is handled by two 3.5W speakers.

You get a choice of either Windows 10 Home or Pro in the laptops.

The ROG Strix Hero II starts at $1699, while the Strix Scar II at a much higher $1999. Both have already been put up on sale.
