What is Unturned?

Unturned is a free to play zombie survival game on Steam. Your main objective in the game is to survive and thrive like in most zombie survival games. You play on one of the current maps that are based on real countries like Canada, Russia, and the USA. Unturned was created by one person named Nelson Sexton. The game is mostly based on the multiplayer aspect and is constantly being updated with new guns, maps, and expansions.

My experience

I've played this game many times before including all the game-modes and difficulties and I have to say that it is a great alternative for someone who doesn't want to pay for a game like DayZ or H1Z1 because it is absolutely free. Since the game is being developed by one person the optimization is a bit lacking for low spec computers like mine, but it is playable and very enjoyable. I'd say this game is great to play with a group of friends for a better experience because it is not easy to survive on your own. This art style for this game is very basic and it almost looks like the game Minecraft, but the gameplay elements make looking at the graphics all worth it.

What others think of the game?

By now the game has reached the top of the free to play charts on Steam and has gained a following on the internet as well. There are many great YouTube channels who focus on providing great Unturned gameplay content for you and me.

Initially, Unturned was criticized for being a one person project and having very poor graphics. But as time went on it got more recognition as a great survival-simulator and it started gathering a community of supporters. Even though a lot of people don't particularly like the art style, I believe you only need to try it and you'll soon see that the gameplay compensates for the graphics side.

The future for the game

Since right off the bat no one was very interested in a Minecraft looking copy of DayZ it was hard to actually get this game noticed. But ever since, it has been growing in popularity and acquiring more and more players. Unturned is completely free to play, but like any other free to play game it needs an element that would bring in sales, so in this case Nelson decided to add a premium version which is only $5 for extra apparel such as clothes and your name in gold, for others to see that you are a premium user. I think the game will keep gaining in popularity and could even surpass some of the higher ranked games on the free to play lists in the near future.

Conclusion

This game is an over all great survival game and deserves much more recognition than it currently has. I believe it has great potential, and with a few people by Nelson's side the game could turn out to be a great competitor to DayZ and H1Z1 because of its free to play aspect. I would give this game a solid 9/10 for its great gameplay mechanics, the looting system and the multiplayer elements which make the game very enjoyable with friends and I hope to see more people playing it every day.

Yea, not only ammo but more like infinite whatever they want! :D Thank you for reading, appreciate it.

Unturned is just poor man's Rust with graphics that are worse than Minecraft in my opinion.

Well not quite, there are many things that make it different from Rust and is certainly not as bad as it looks. But either way, thank you for reading.
