Sleeping in a graveyard is always a great and wonderful idea. Especially when you wake up and realise its the exact place you need to be for the progression of the game's main quest. A tower awaits. A tall tower, apparently. I enter the tower, and its immediately full of the undead. Perfect. My priest man will dominate here, while my barbarian tanks all the damage.
The 'tall' tower only consists of a mere two levels, and its not long before I have taken all the loot from within, and reach the roof top, where there is a few things of interest. There's a machine; and then there is also a man standing there, being suspicious. He tells me that the machine has something to do with souls, but he doesn't know how to use it, but there is someone that does.
I go on a wild goose chase that takes me through the town, and along the way, I complete and pick up a few more quests. Best of all, I level up to level 6, and feel more competent than ever in combat! It probably helps that I am now doing things in the right order according to the game, probably.
I end up finding the person required to learn how to operate the machine, and choose to release the souls embedded within, instead of blowing up the town, which would have been my other option. I get praise and accolades from the guards as I wonder off, with a belly full of XP, and a bag full of loot that I should probably sell at some point soon.
Before that, it is time to get involved in the Knights Crucible. I don't know exactly what they stand for, but I know I have a quest that can be done there. So I go there. I get another quest; and return; running around from place to place, doing things that don't really progress the story in any meaningful way, but tell me some alternative stories which help to flesh out the world of Pillars of Eternity.
As I play the game more and more, I realise that instead of one cohesive story (like the main quest) - its a bunch of stories, told from different perspectives, with a few moral outcomes that you can select from in order to see how you fit within the world. The main issue that I am having to this stage of the game is that I can't really see how my impact is changing the world.
This leads me to want to cease playing the game, but I am intrigued by the thing that is going on with animancers, children being born without souls, the souls from the afterlife intermingling with those present; and further to this, what it means to be a watcher.
Also, I still need to get rich and upgrade that Stronghold with everything I possibly can. In time, in time; this will all come. There's also fin little deeds to do, like this, which involves getting a dagger for a child. A really impressive, dangerous dagger by the sounds of things. I will do it:
I promise that soon I will start narrating the gameplay videos I have been uploading. I don't know what I will be saying in them yet, but it will be ranting and raving, most likely. It is me, after all.
