Released in 2010, the eagerly awaited sequel to TaleWorlds first game in the Mount and Blade series, Warband proves to stand the test of time. Currently on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One, the game has received overwhelmingly positive reviews across all platforms. On steam alone, 97% of 40,684 user reviews have been positive. That is not an easy feat to accomplish.

You will find that a lot of people who play this game, cannot put it down... it's that amazing. Just look at those hours!

So, what's this game about?

---

GREAT QUESTION! In a nutshell, this game is an action rpg. You start with a character who has no influence, no army, very little money and little strength.

First, you make your character. When making your character, you can chose what he is proficient in, what kind of influence he has at the start, and my favorite, how ridiculous he or she will look.

Here's a look at what my character looks like Isn't he handsome?

This is the point distribution screen you will find after making your character, and choosing his backstory. After this is done, you will be thrown into the world.

The game takes place in the world of Calradia, home to the 5 factions you will encounter in your quest to be king: Swadia, Khergits, Nords, Rhodoks, and Vaegirs.

The world is open and persistent. As you explore, trade, fight, and fail, the world doesn't stop. While you are counting your coins, the plebs who you passed earlier are still farming and sending their harvest to the city owned by their local Lord. While you are busy clearing out a bandit nest, the factions of the world are constantly trading, and warring, and robbing, and proposing treaties that will inevitably lead to more war.

As you explore the world, you will be able to gain influence with these factions based on the actions you take. Want to gain the favor of a Lord? No problem, fight beside him, or just do some quests for him and he will slowly begin to like you. Then, when you become strong enough to create your own kingdom, he will be more likely to break away from his current liege and serve under you.

The ultimate goal of this game: Become King of Calradia

But what makes this game so fun?

The game gives you the freedom to be whatever you want. Fight as a lord under one of the 5 Kings, make profits by trading goods from city to city, make profits by pillaging villages and stealing everything they have, get attacked by the lords of that village, defeat the lord of that village and ransom him to his king.... profit.

Not to mention this game has some of the best sword combat you will ever find in a game right now. In fact, the combat in this game has been taken and reworked by many other games you may have heard of such as, For Honor, Of Kings and Men, Chivalry, and Reign of Kings. Unfortunately, none of these games have been able to make their combat as good as Warband's.

There are also thousands of mods for Warband that allow for different experiences, and a lot of them are extremely fun and well made.

The Single player sounds fun, but what about the mutliplayer?

Although the single player is amazing, the real fun to be had is in the multiplayer. It is one thing to destroy AI and feel like you are the greatest warrior who ever lived... but once you try out the multiplayer, you find that there are warriors far more skilled than yourself.

The combat in multiplayer is so competitive, there is actual pro players..... even crazier, a few weeks ago, Warband became an official Esport.
